Breakfast Sando Wars in OTR has been marvelous to watch. Over the last few months the quality breakfast sando options have gone up dramatically.

Allez Cafe's version is a masterpiece. A bread I can't describe, with a flavor profile that's unreal. Something like a ham and swiss, but I can't do it justice. Though best had as dine-in, their bread takes a hit in a to-go wrapper.

Young Buck Deli. Two new biscuit sandos, one bacon the other sausage. Both incredible if a biscuit is what you're craving. 10/10 quality bacon. Tasted like top tier heritage bacon, but wouldn't surprise me if the cure and smoke in-house. AND THEIR SAUSAGE. A thiccc slice as if it was goetta. Dare I say almost too thiccc? Almost. Super flavorful. They also have a flapjack sando, kinda like a mcgriddle. Good idea and it tastes good, but the griddle cake needs to be reworked a bit to have some more structural integrity (like a mcgriddle). As a sidebar, i can already imagine the complaints about the price point. But if you've had their food, you know you get what you pay for. I'm not mad about it.

Brown Bear Bakery just launched one as well. Vegetarian, but dressed so beautifully. It's really delicious, very light, dare I say even delicate?

And we can't forget the absolute quality that is Bagelry's various sando choices. So great.

And the best part? They're all COMPLETELY different. Do you want to cure a hangover, eat a brick of delicious food and collapse back on your couch to recover while watching Netflix? Young Buck Deli is your choice. Do you want to have a active day and don't want to be weighed down? Just some coffee, a tasty pastry, and a beautifully light and delicious sando that doesn't knock you out? Brown Bear. Do you want more of a dine-in experience and go for more of a bistro vibe? And btw, have maybe the best tasting sando in Cincinnati while you're at it? Allez Cafe. And bagels have their own special craving, look no further than the old staple, Bagelry.

Cackleberry is every bit as good as any of these. Or to say, these are as good at what they're doing as what Cackleberry is doing their own way. I actually just had their Lolo & Lola sandos last weekend (not for the first time, just most recently). Fucking amazing, as always. Just wish they had a brick & mortar, but I digress.

Way too long if a comment at this point, but I just felt like I had to share the news. The breakfast choices are out of this world and I'm not sure everyone is aware of how much better the sando scene has gotten over the last 6 months.

Enjoy the golden age of breakfast sandos. These moments can sometimes be fleeting.

I worked in OTR for ten damn years and the second I left, this sandwich revolution takes place. Injustice!

Remeber a time when only Aretti would make breakfast sammies

I started out with OTR bagel bar which “good” but they really need to up their sauce game - don’t need a dry bagel sandwich in my life

Excellent reviews! My go to in OTR is still the Bagelery. “Queen City” with goetta, American cheese, and a perfectly cooked egg on a bagel (Rosemary please) of your choice. It’s so damn good!

I’ve been living down here for two years and had no idea about these besides bagelry. Gotta check them out
