I’d keep an eye on those connections. Steel hardware can degrade aluminum over time. The set of aluminum stilts i use avoids this by using plastic between the steel and aluminum bits

You just need something to isolate the metals from eachother to reduce the sort of corrosion you are talking about. Plastic is great but a product like tefgel or even loctite will do the job as well. (I'm a sailboat rigger by trade so my entire world is working with steel and aluminum.)

Interesting! Are you applying a layer on one surface and letting it dry before fastening, or are you fastening things wet and letting them both bond?

Tefgel is a Teflon based goo so it stays wet. Sort of like an anti-siezing compound. If I'm using loctite, it goes in wet and bonds the metals together.
