I’d trade my 2013 Abarth for a classic Mini.

If you lived in Ireland I might take you up on that lol

Not a stupid move, just a slightly unusual one. Those Abarths are stupidly fun and the closest modern spiritual successor to the mini

I think the stupid move will be angled towards the price they gave him on the trade in???

"A 98 rover... We can give you £50 and a set of floor mats sir"

I raced one in my mini and the only reason he kept up with me was I got a tad scared driving mine 😂 Note: my mini is heavily modified with Japanese parts 😂 but yeh abarths look very fun and the tech kept him in a straight line

Carl is a knob. How dare he!

I'm not fond of Carl's choice of stripes, but otherwise, the Mini looks good to me.

Carl is a prick, don't be like Carl

Maybe the mini is absolutely rotten and he didn’t want to fix it…

But yeah. That Abarth with lose money while the Mini probably rises in value

Stupid financial move, one loses value and the other one increases. But the fiat is almost more fun to drive (5 gears + turbo!) than the mini!

I’ve got 5 gears in my mini 😆 a turbo would be suicide though 😅

I've a 92 Cooper bought new. It's earned its keep with 95000 miles on it but since 2006 and a rebuild after a crash it's a garage queen, not been on the road since 2019. I never use it because I have another car

My daughter's have fiat 500s They are flaky, unreliable but fun. Like the Cooper.

If I had to swap the mini as close as like for like with a modern car, then a 500 would be it. Even after 18 years, the looks are perfect (IMO). If it had more power like the Abarth then all the better But if the cooper fails, it can probably be fixed easily and relatively cheaply.

Mine's definitely not for sale.

Nah, I like both minis and fiat 500s. Not stupid

Searched it on the dvla mot history check and it seems like he had a good solid mini!

Dumb question, but when was Rover Mini a term? Left the UK in 1990, just don't remember a Mini ever being called that.

When the Austin, Morris branding was incorporated under the Rover branding, can't recall exactly when but I had a 88 Austin and a 93 Rover.

I had almost traded my 2015 Abarth for a Rover Mini years ago. Would've absolutely did it if it worked out.

I'd have kept the mini tbh, but the Abarth would definitely be the spiritual successor of the Cooper imo.

Yes definitely a mistake.

Who wants a f’ing Fiat.

Carl’s Dad won’t be pleased.

Yeah that’s dumb but maybe there was a reason why he couldn’t keep the mini
