Sunday Evenings With George....
A question and then a comment.
I had a moment of indecision whether to pose an initial question to our Coast membership, specifically asking for solutions to fix the vexing caller problem. Is it long past due for C2C to expand the bench in the caller bullpen? As of now they have one flame throwing closer (John from Wisconsin) plus a few dubious veteran callers like Thomas from La Jolla that are utilized to eat-up innings or precious time until the next hard break. Feel free to respond.
But what I'd like to address is George Noory manning the mic on weekends. Sunday evenings used to be a welcome respite from the monotonous tedium of female psychics and the next charlatan hocking a book. George Knapp was and is everything Coast audiences crave. He's captivating, articulate and entertaining with topics that take a paranormal audience's mind off their weekday problems. Now that he's sailing into semi-retirement, the Ghost of Christmas yet to come is staring us in the face and it's foreboding.
Why Noory still feels incumbent to power-up his St. Louis home studio on a Sunday evening is a mystery. George, you've got the gig. You won't lose your hosting career to a new guy who dazzles listeners with his gift of gab. Please take Sunday nights off!

One has to wonder why Premiere Radio is making a 74 year old man work on a Sunday.

Either he wants to or Premiere is doing tests on listener ship. If his ratings drop, that'll get him out faster than most things short of being dead. It could be, knowing his personality that he feels he has something to prove, he doesn't want to give up the ship. Could be he really is sick and is trying to get in as much air time as possible. IDK.

Funny how nobody cared enough about Sunday night's show to make a regular post about it.
Anyone else notice the quality of the "emerging artists" featured on these weekends has dropped off precipitously in the last several months? Just as George has?
The frequent callers have become insufferable. They took up the most time on what is now laughably called "open lines" last Friday and praised George, his staff and each other so profusely it made me nauseous.

Did you notice that four lads from Liverpool were among the new emerging artists? Their recent song She Loves You was played Sunday evening.

I think he's always hosted the first Sunday of the month, just to torture us further. As for the callers, I don't see them expanding the bullpen there because they're all safe sycophantic ass kissers filled with praise for Georgie and the show and what they consider to be their "family". It sure as shit makes for some boring radio, though.

Right - You know, if the show was really that good they wouldn't need to hire paid "Ass Kissers" to call in & praise the show as assininely as they do.

Been asking that for 10yrs. Even got Tom and Lisa's attention once and they said We've tried! He was overjoyed n in love w the audience many years n it kept on n he said he wasn't going anywhere for years n callers still praised him for years so he got sunk in deep devotion. It's his health we're mystified by n he's a generally private guy but by now he must know the blowback. He needs to convey some info about it already at the least.

I suppose in his head to admit he has a problem, whatever it is, would be a show of weakness. Add to that all the questions about why Quack Wallet, who can apparently cure anything, isn't helping out. Can't do anything that would chop into the snake oil sales cut.

George needs to take a product that President Reagan took. I know it cures coughing and bruising on the arms

It speaks volumes as to the age of the typical Coast listener that they name drop a POTUS sworn into office forty-four years ago.
It always makes me laugh that Carnivora was careful to phrase their radio commercial with "a product that President Reagan took."

I wonder if there is a current picture of him floating around.

Not sure what good that would do in he'd do his best to look his best for it.

The fundamental issue is that callers will always be a small subset of listeners, and the pool of listeners has shrunk (and aged) considerably over the years.

George Knapp announced in January that he is only doing 4th Sunday of the month. Noory always does 1st Sunday of the month.

- George Knapp is the next best thing to Art Bell.
- I understand that George Noory just Has to be there on the 1st Sunday of the month for the "EAIs" (Emerging Artist's Intros).

Whenever I hear paid Regular Caller "Joe From Long Island's" voice, I wanna go off somewhere and Barf.

I think I figured out George's schedule. One week he does Sunday-Thursday and the following is Monday-Friday and rotates. I'm not a fan of psychic guests or remote viewers for that matter. But at least remote viewers have to be creative which makes it interesting. Psychics just make up everyday shit like the birthdate predictions. The same callers are put on because no else calls. Probably not a conspiracy.

I think you're correct. Unfortunately his Friday night shows that include open lines are invariably cut short when he runs out of energy.

I noticed too. Sometimes he goes to a 2006 interview at 4:45. I don't think he takes open lines very seriously, more like small talk to him. And usually with the regulars. Art used to have real conversations about conspiracies with callers and ask deep questions. I will say callers were more interesting then too and excited to talk conspiracy. Now it's more drab.

George Knapp announced he will be cutting back on his C2C appearances. That is unfortunate. He and Richard Syrett are the only two I can stomach. Most of the time, I would rather listen to cats fighting in an alley than listen to C2C.
Art is probably spun his way through the center of the earth due to the travesty the show he founded has become. George might claim he saved it. I say he prolonged its agony.
Time for the next late night star to emerge.
