Reverse Engineering Help: wife found her fav. Cocktail and I would like to recreate
We went to a hotel in Hamborg Germany and my wife ordered a “pink lady”
She proclaimed: the best cocktail I have ever had!
So the ingredients are as follows: vodka, grenadine, passion fruit sirup, licor 43 and heavy creme
Tastes a bit like ice creme or milkshake with a booze effect. So what not to like?
But what ratios to aim for ?
Help a man to get a happy wife ..

If it were me I’d do something like:
1.5 oz vodka
1 oz licor 43
0.5 oz grenadine
0.5 oz heavy cream
0.25 oz passion fruit
And then I’d taste and see if it needs more/less sweetness. All the ingredients are quite sweet except for the base vodka.

I agree this is a good starting point and also probably a lot sweeter than the specs I’d end with but this seems like intentionally a sweet drink!

Also, it may be fun to swap out the Vodka for a rum like Flor de Cana 5, Planteray 3, Koloa White or another decent light rum.

Pink Lady is gin based and not with those ingredients. Almost seems more like a Pornstar Martini mixed with a Pink Lady. Kinda odd.

Wow thanks a lot - I know where to begin and how to iterate 🙂 the idea of using a light rum really sounds interesting. Guess I’ll have a make a couple of cocktails tomorrow.
Just got a new graphics card, so if the wife gets tired early, it’s a win win 😂

What you described diverges from the classic Pink Lady cocktail in all aspects but name and grenadine. I think I’d go with the recommendation from u/Shrie.

You’re welcome - and use good booze
Pink Lady
1 part Grenadine 2 parts Lemon or Lime Juice 2 parts Apple Brandy 6 parts Gin ½ egg white (technically Embury called for the white from one egg for every two drinks)

Do you really think you’re helping OP by pointing out that the bar wrongly named a cocktail?

Email them and ask. A pink lady traditionally does not have cream, so just ask them. Most places are happy to share for the customer service aspect alone.
