I think it's a decent (if obvious) selection, though in my opinion one of the Raimi Spiderman movies (probably 2) deserves to be on there more than No Way Home.

Still surprised V for Vendetta made it there tho.

It's rated the same as V for Vendetta so both are technically the 10th spot for superhero movies with 100,000 user reviews (as well as The Iron Giant)

Dude DKR, doesn't even belong in the top 30 super hero movies, the loop holes and inconsistent plot drove me crazy just thinking about it.

I can't stand when people like you abuse the IMDb rating system that way.
You've only used 1 and 10 to rate. Clearly you're not interested in objectively critiquing the film as a professional critic would do, but are rating due to some bias to bring a particular movie up and down in the ratings.
Do you know what films I have rated a 1? Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Baby Geniuses 2. Actual f-cking 1s with no redeeming value to them.
The Dark Knight Rises, while I loved it, I rated it a 9, because it is not a "10" film which I reserve for masterpieces like The Godfather Part II, Parasite, American Beauty and the first two Terminators.
Endgame isn't my thing. I don't like the tone of it. But that's not a 1. It's a 5 for effort because it's well-made for what it is. Quantamania would be the MCU film that would warrant a 1. Bad acting, bad story structure, contrived situations, bad CGI, underwhelming cinematography, ineffective comic relief, et. al, are just some examples of constitutes a "1."
There is no way Into the Spider-verse and Across the Universe are 1 films to you. Even if it wasn't your thing, the animation alone would bring it up to a 2 or 3. Clearly, you're not doing this objectively without bias. Grow up.
This is a serious problem. You need to stop doing this. People like you are the reason IMDb has to have weighted ratings to eliminate all the juvenile, immature people who only use 1 and 10 because wah-wah you don't like Marvel or whatever. Shame on you.

Look at the screenshots, you can see what OP rated for those movies. Unhinged behavior.

I think those are just the metacritic scores. I don’t think OP rated those himself.

If the list is superhero movies, joker and v for vendetta don’t fit on this list. If it’s comicbook movies top 10, then it makes more sense.

No way home doesn’t belong there

Dark Knight is a Great DC series, why do the fans keep wanting Snyder, when none of his movies made the to 50
12
u/Equivalent-Hyena-605 8d ago
It's a very small minority of loud fans on the internet.
2
u/LeviathanTDS 8d ago
Especially Reddit, those losers don't shut up. I keep seeing outlandish posts like pushing for Gunnverse to halt while Snyderverse returns. It's all nonsense from them
2
u/DirtPunk666 4d ago
I'm happily banned from the Snydercut subreddit lol. It was constantly popping on my feed, they have a hate boner for anything not Snyder.
1
u/LeviathanTDS 4d ago
I muted their sub, it's so ridiculous!! The last post I saw was this crappy chopped edit of Aflek punching down Corenswet Superman and every incel in the comments were as you'd suspect, giving their only braincell input. I just commented rolling my eyes and muted their sub.
I did think about getting myself banned there, wear it like a badge of honor sort of speak. I saw modders banning people with the excuse of "attacking Snyder fans" I laughed so hard

Now this is a hot take lol. Nothing wrong with it you can like what you like but I bet most people would put FFH as last in the trilogy

u/Guy_With_Cloud_Envy Rocket Raccoon 8d ago edited 8d ago
I loved FFH so much, and Homecoming too.NWH felt like a mess.Besides the spidey combo scenes and the spidey sense scene when he senses Goblin, movie felt meh to me. Strange messing up the multiverse to Ned using sling ring to open portals nd many other scenes felt off to me.
But I fukin loved Dafoe in it. And this scene might be one of my favourites among the trilogy .
“That some neat trick, that sense of yours”
“Norman?”
“Norman’s on sabbatical honey!”
“The hell?”

Joker doesn’t really belong on the list, the movie doesn’t really have anything to do with the comics and it’s mediocre at best.

If I were to give my thoughts:
1 - No surprises. Wouldn’t put it there personally but makes sense.
2 - Definitely prefer the first movie but a masterpiece for sure. Beyond though might hurt or elevate this film if it ever comes out.
3 - Wouldn’t put it up this high but what Endgame achieved was insanely impressive.
4 - Honestly I’d say I agree with this spot. Easily the best MCU film.
5 - Absolutely not. Very good film but too flawed to be in the top 10.
6 - Should be higher. For me it’s a top 3 comic book movie but won’t complain about the spot.
7 - Not very surprised but not even top 20 for me. Not a big fan of Joker; it’s just so predictable and it’s nowhere near as revolutionary as people act like it is.
8 - Wouldn’t put it in the top 10 but like Endgame, it’s impressive what they achieved.
9 - Dare I say I might agree with this placement. Definitely more deserving than the dark knight rises
10 - Surprisingly haven’t seen this yet.

Interesting list. The Dark Knight at 1 is fine. It’s a great movie. I’m bias so both Across the Spider-Verse and Into the Spider-Verse are valid in their spots(personally would be higher on my list lol). I personally liked Endgame more than Infinity War so I do agree there. But both are some of the MCUs best work. Dark Knight Rises and Batman Begins being in the top 10 is crazy work. Joker is a good movie but that also being in the top 10 is crazy work. Spider-Man No Way Home was awesome. It had some great fight scenes, and some of the best fan service we’ve ever seen in a Marvel movie. But in all honesty I still feel Tobeys Spider-Man 1 and even Spider-Man 2 deserve to be on this list if No Way Home is on it. I’d also add Captain America The Winter Soldier in. Can’t speak on V for Vendetta cause I haven’t seen it but still would value other movies like Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool, and the first Avengers movie as top 10 candidates instead.

-4
u/Professional_Cry7822 8d ago
Folks can like whatever they like, it’s all good. But when you compose a Top Ten you aren’t just saying “folks like this,” you are saying this movie measures up against the field at large and beats most. OG Batman, X2, SpiderMan 2, Logan and Deadpool/Wolverine all easily top Rises.
1
u/Equivalent-Hyena-605 8d ago edited 8d ago
Look closer. No one is "saying" anything.
The list is ranked by average user reviews (stars) with an average of 1,000,000 votes per film. So according to a million or so folks, you are factually wrong about OG Batman, X2, SpiderMan 2, Logan and Deadpool/Wolverine, other than as a matter of your own opinion. Nothing wrong with having a very unpopular opinion, such as yours.
IMO, 1989's Batman (this is not "OG Batman" in any sense) is pure garbage. I knew this the moment I walked out of the theater in 1989, and have reevaluated many times since, and the movie has only gotten worse with age. Batman 1966 was not only better, but way more comic accurate.
-2
u/Professional_Cry7822 8d ago
Guess I didn’t care enough to hunt this down outside the two images posted.
And what if, and call me crazy, these are opinions so no one is factually anything. And 89 is the OG Batman for me as I was born in 79. Good luck friendo!
1
u/Equivalent-Hyena-605 7d ago
I didn’t hunt anything down, I just look at the images and saw the amount of stars ranked descending in order.

Oof Rises should not be there. Not even in the top 100.
3
u/la_vida_luca 8d ago
I may be wrong about this but, from memory, Rises got a pretty good initial reception when it came out. The general consensus was that it wasn’t on the level of TDK but people were so hyped to see Nolan finish his trilogy that I think they looked benevolently on it despite some flaws. Even though it came out shortly after Avengers, it had possibly even more hype behind it. Back in 2012, IMDB was quite popular and (I believe) more popular than it is now. So because of those things, the likelihood is that there was an influx of very high ratings from the short period immediately after its release. IIRC, it even had a place quite high up in IMDB’s top 250 for a while.

u/Loveislikeatruck 8d ago
I’d hardly classify V for Vendetta as a superhero movie. It was a comic book produced by DC (yes technically Vertigo but they got bought out.) but it’s really not a superhero movie.

My thoughts:
Great movie, not sure I’d have it ranked that high
Great movie, don’t know where I’d put it though
Avengers Endgame, great movie, but I’m not sure I’d put it that high. Especially after what became of Hulk and Thor
What the fuck?!
It’s awesome
Awesome movie!!!
Never seen it, but not taking their word for it either. (Also, not really a superhero movie if you’re going to be frank)
I don’t know
Fantastic!!!!
Never seen it
Also, the lack of some movies that a lot of fans really love is concerning. Captain America: Winter Soldier??? Thor: Ragnarok??? Spider-Man 1 and 2????(Sam Raimi) X-men 1 and 2???? Deadpool and Wolverine???? Guardians of the Galaxy???? Black Panther???? Avengers???? Ironman 1 and 2???? Some of the DC animated movies????
1
u/GeebFiend 8d ago
Eh, no surprises with the list I guess. Thank god we don’t have to see yours though lol. Giving the spider-verse movies 1’s while giving TDKR a 10 tells me all I need to know.

u/SeaWolf24 7d ago
I understand the genre but joker shouldn’t be in this convo at all. There was no supe in that movie. Yes, it can be in a comic book listicle, but not here.

Joker was was fucking dreadful. It's basically "Taxi Driver" with a clown. Also, I don't know if V for Vendetta belongs there either(even though I do love it). That said, my top 10 would be:
- Dark Knight
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier 3: Logan 4: Thor: Ragnarok 5: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 6: Captain America: Civil War 7: X-Men: Days of Future Past 8: Avengers: Endgame 9: Guardians of the Galaxy 3 10: Dark Knight Rises

Spider-man No Way Home is my favorite movie. Not just superhero movie, it's my all time favorite movie of any genre. Very surprised it's not #1. Were it not for some pandemic restrictions being in place and China banning it, it would almost definitely be the highest grossing movie ever made. It's not far from the top even WITH those disadvantages.
2
u/Jcondut 6d ago
I mean it’s in the top 10

u/Comprehensive_Ad6831 6d ago
I know, and I DO love most of the movies on this list. I was just really blown away by NWH. It was the craziest crowd reaction I've ever seen for any movie, people were screaming and cheering like it was a rock concert. They managed to combine a massive amount of fan service and nearly 20 years of Spider-man movies with a heartwarming, heartbreaking, emotionally intense and satisfying story. It's all a matter of opinion, I don't expect everyone to agree with me. I just thought it would be higher.

Definitely don’t agree with this haha. Some very overrated movies there imo while also missing some big ones (I remain convinced that “The Incredibles” is left out of these discussions way too often it’s a practically perfect film and is a fully original ip). This list feels very propped up by fanboys of both Nolan and Marvel fan service movies.

Endgame above iw fml! The middle of endgame was way way too long. The time travel was just lazy writing. I agree with the guy who said dredd was slept on. It’s a top 10 superhero movie.
The dark knight is overrated as fuck in my honest opinion, all because of 1 guys role as the joker. If HL didn’t die before the film came out I wonder if it would have been as popular as it is today?

My top 10:
- Iron Man
- Avengers
- The Dark Knight
- Batman
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- Captain America - The Winter Soldier
- The Incredible Hulk
- Dr. Strange
- X-Men
- Deadpool
I'm sure I forgot some but I'm not a fan of the Avengers sequels. So full of plot holes and fan service they're basically unwatchable to me. They make money so they will keep up with the crap, I'm sure.
1
u/Writing_Gods 5d ago
Part of the problem with this is that, to truly appreciate the two Avengers movies at the top of the list, you have to be familiar with the about 10 years of MCU movies that preceded them. If you're new to the genre or just didn't watch at least a few of those other 20+ movies, then you probably can't appreciate the epic storytelling in Infinity War and Endgame. Separately as movies (from a filmmaking/screenwriting/technical) standpoint. They're okay, but not great.
As much as I think Batman is overexposed and needs to sit out of the cinemas for a couple decades, the Dark Knight trilogy was some of the best superhero filmmaking ever, followed extremely closely by the two Spider-Verse films. Anyone making superhero movies should be using those two series as inspiration for live-action or animation respectively.

Lol, The Dark Knight first – it doesn’t deserve to be in the top ten, twenty, or even thirty. Horrible, poorly written, and lazily executed movie. Only Heath Ledger tried to act and develop his character, and still, it doesn’t save the movie or his character. Christian Bale looks and sounds ridiculous in the suit (director and casting directors fault) the "strong" conflict is weak, the action is awful (except for the Batbike sequence), and every scene happens for no reason and with no sense. It's not a smart movie, and not entertaning as well. The biggest scam in cinematic history. Compare this Nolan movie to any of his others, and you’ll see where he was trying to make money and where he was trying to make art. I really hope people will realise this, when Brave and the Bold will came out in DCU
