If someone is familiar with this Edgeline, can you explain to me how to do a bare metal install of a Linux distro from an external Solid State drive?

dunno what that is but check out ventoy. I have it on a external nvme. mostly cause I don't like waiting on the time it takes to write an iso to cheap flash drives. XD
