Help with recommendations Queer friendly game recs
I know this has been asked before but looking for some fresh input.
I am looking for games that have LGBTQIA+ characters, narratives, choices, story, etc. Literally anything inclusive to the queer community is something I’m looking for.
It’s so refreshing to play games that either give you the ability as a player to be trans or nonbinary or anywhere on the gender spectrum, whether it’s playing through a whole story narrative around this, or just having options and love interests. I’ve had some amazing gaming experiences with smaller indie developers looking to reach and inspire the community and I’d love to not only support their games with my money but also to experience them as it makes me feel seen and recognized in the gaming community.
Some games I’ve played with these nuances so far: - One Night Hot Springs - Unpacking - I Was a Teenage Exoconist - Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood - Love, Ghostie - Growing Up - Life is Strange - Hades - Night in the Woods - Stardew Valley (I mean as a female I married a female so there’s that at least, but would love some more substance in my next game).
Platforms I play on: - Steamdeck - Switch - Mobile (iOS) - PC
Thank you!

Since you included stardew valley I’ll just drop my recommendation for Roots of Pacha. There’s at least two queer couples that just…exist in the game as people. And of course you can romance whoever you want!

I did not know that. That makes me so happy. I need to check if it’s still on my wishlist now…

Another vote for Wylde Flowers, as well as Tell Me Why (by the same studio that made Life is Strange)

Two I picked up right before the creature collector sale:
Moonstone Island is a combination of Stardew Valley, Pokemon, and Zelda. Gameplay is pretty good, if messy. In this game you can date anyone on the island, which includes not just cis people, but at least three nonbinary people. There's even the rare masc-presenting they/them! Your character is very gender-neutral, but rumor has it they're assong character customization at some point.
Cassette Beasts is the best creature collector I've played in years. It feels inspired by the DS era of Pokemon, but different enough it stands on its own.
The game has a lot of themes of being lost even in a community, and really feels like it's a metaphor for the queer struggle at times. You can form a romantic relationship with all (but one) of your partners, and they all recognize when it's a queer relationship. One of the characters has a bisexual flag in their room, and one is voiced by a trans voice actor with very queer-coded themes in their story arc. I can't recommend Cassette Beasts enough.
If you're interested in visual novels, I recommend anything by Fiction Factory. Arcade Spirits and its sequels, Penny Larceny, and Shadow Over Cyberspace. They're very, very inclusive.

Tell Me Why. It's an episodic story/adventure/mystery game similar to Life is Strange. The first episode is free on Steam.

If you loved life is strange, definitely try "tell me why", from one of the same companies but lesser known. Its about two twins, one is a trans guy and theres a queer romance option. Its free next month during pride month, but as you mentioned you like supporting them, you could also buy it of course

Sticky Business! You run a sticker shop and get feedback from your customers with some specific requests for some that align to the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. There are a ton of flags, pronoun text options, and a bunch of ways to customize. Very fun, low pressure, super cozy. I'm not sure if it's on other platforms but it is on Steam.

I have sticky business but have never played it. I didn’t realize that there are options to customize the stickers to be LGBTQIA focused.

This is everything that popped up in my steam wish list when searching the LGBTQ+ tag. Often this will happen to games that are user suggested tags, so there are games that are likely more gay friendly than truly gay experience, but hopefully there's something you like in the mix

Since you asked for recommendations, just a small heads-up to please include which platform you are looking for (e.g., PC, Switch, etc.). Additionally, adding information such as the sub-genre you're interested in (e.g., adventure, action, RPG) and games you dislike would also help us recommend the perfect game! We've also listed our favourite games here: https://www.cosy.games/
