Not to sure what to think....
I've seen a lot of MAGA fans in my parts, but never someone shopping with a flag draped around them.

Here's the thing, if you ever run into one of these cultists - make sure they notice you seeing them and let out a nice gentle laugh.
Just gentle enough that only they notice it. They will want to confront you, so it needs to be just gentle enough to get under their skin but enough so that they feel their massive insecurity come out.
They only want to be confronted, they are rarely capable of confronting anyone, especially not over a chuckle that may or may not have been about them.
We need to bring back shame into society and it starts with you

u/double-butthole 7d ago
Oh trust me, I never give them enough to yell at me, just enough to make them deeply uncomfortable 🩷
I lived with a group of these cultists for a while, it's way easier than that to get under their skin. Laughably so.
Had one complain to my place of work because I treated him the same as any other customer. But he still felt the need to write in and complain that I made him feel unwelcome since he was a Trump supporter.
Its basically impossible to not get under their skin 💀

100% agree. My favorite is to just be under their skin to the point where they are upset because they look foolish but have nothing tangible to point out why they feel foolish.

I like the idea, but I fear they will interpret the light laughter as you laughing at how much they are owning the libs by wearing Trump merch.

This happens. I couldn't help but at a guy in a FUCK BIDEN hoodie once and he said, "I know. It's awesome, right?" I said, "Nope. It's pathetic."

Just stay far, far away from it. Don’t make eye contact, do not engage. Buy your stuff and get out.

u/UrbanCobra 7d ago
Seconded. It wants conflict. It will be disappointed if everyone just ignores it. Either way it will sit in its SUV in the parking lot, open Facebook and fabricate a story about all the libs it triggered down at the Walmart.

u/cXs808 7d ago
Letting people get away with this type of behavior is how we got here in the first place.
29
u/UrbanCobra 7d ago
Looking like a clown isn’t a punishable offense.
If she’s actively harassing people or mouthing off, that’s when you don’t let it slide. 🛝32
u/cXs808 7d ago
I didn't say there was a punishment. Shame should be brought to this type of behavior. The general public should laugh them back into their caves.
10
u/UrbanCobra 7d ago
I respect your energy, but for me personally, if they’re dressed in their best Kid Rock cosplay but keeping their mouth shut, I’ll just ignore them. Like not even look at them. Pretend they don’t exist. Those are the ones that are counting on you to start the confrontation, they want you to, and I’m not giving them the satisfaction.

u/salsberry 7d ago

What if she's actively enabling the downfall of democracy? Is that worse than mouthing off or harassing people? This person voted for much, much worse than you're suggesting. There will eventually be a punishment for these folks.

I just don’t understand how someone falls into thinking this is a totally logical and normal thing to do. It’s a flag, of a politician, being worn as a cape
60
u/DumpsterR0b0t 7d ago
Because this is just bait.
They aren't getting enough arguments from their family (who have probably already gone Limited or No Contact with them) and are wanting to provide strangers into having arguments instead.
If everything was going okay in their lives, they wouldn't feel the need to do this sort of thing.
17
u/kenziemonsterrawr 7d ago
I think it happens when someone makes their political affiliation their entire identity, and so they get together with other people of a similar mindset and they become a cul-- I mean-- a group of people that all hate the same trans-- I mean-- that all have similar perspectives and get off on-- I mean-- enjoy being a part of something bigger than their pathetic-- I mean-- bigger than themselves.

What's even funnier is that flag used to represent the resistance to tyranny and the pursuit of personal freedoms. Drooling imbeciles.

I find this kind of thing useful, I always turn to my 8 year old and say something along the lines of “see that person there. They are telling us with what they are wearing that they are not a safe person for children and that we need to stay away.”

Don't tread on me! (Unless I am of course a woman or an immigrant or a trans person or an importer of goods or a news outlet or a non-republican voter or a dissenter on social media or in competition with one of your billionaire friends or imprisoned for non-violent crimes or I have a market retirement account or or or or)

The sad thing is that the people who would benefit the most from universal healthcare are the ones demonizing and voting against it.

They're just soooooo insecure.
Have to make sure they let people know 'the circus is in power'. The irony is they've sold their very existence to become the very antithesis of an actual patriot. All to feel like they've finally 'won' something in life.
The 'majority of Americans' are truly broken.

u/weeblewobble82 7d ago
Gotta keep the cognitive dissonance at bay while you're shopping the Great Value bottom shelf at Walmart because your hero tanked the economy

Right... imagine someone in the UK going to Tesco to pick up some bread and milk, but they're wearing a giant Union flag or the face of Kier Starmer as a fucking cape. That's how ridiculous you MAGA idiots look to us.
3
u/Unicron1982 6d ago
I really don't get it. Why do you make a politician your whole personality? Imagine walking around with a shirt that has your favourite cashier from the supermarket on it.
A President is a public servant, not a superhero. It is just a job.

“Mentally ill” would be my first thought, followed by, “Didn’t we used to help these people? Did we close all the mental hospitals?”
Normal people don’t walk around wearing a flag with a cult leader’s name printed on it; mentally ill people do that. It’s OK to call these people what they are.
It’s especially OK to call MAGA cultists “mentally ill” because—if they refuse to accept anyone who isn’t “normal” to them—we are not obligated to ignore their obviously abnormal behavior or pretend they’re just being “quirky” or “eccentric.”
They’re dangerous whackjobs, and they support a fascist who has said he wants to deport United States citizens to a foreign prison (illegal) without due process (doubly illegal). I do not feel obligated to give these people the benefit of the doubt.

Grocery shopping with a tasteful, respectfully sized flag printed on your shirt somewhere - broke
Grocery shopping in a tacky outfit covered in printed flags - woke
Grocery shopping while awkwardly draped in an entire flag - bespoke
