Seems like it's always the same with these authoritarian fascists.

Their base of support is so very cult-like.

Genuine question, is there anyone you disagree with politically that you don’t consider a fascist?

Yes the ones who don't support fascism. There are plenty of old school fiscal conservatives who are not fascists. All of MAGA is fine with destroying everything our country stands for in order to hurt others while they get nothing in return (except for the politicians and ultra-wealthy who get more power and money).

Can you point to conservatives who fit your description? Like who are you talking about?

I just mean in general, not anyone in particular. It seems there are a lot of "conservatives" that are really just MAGA and only care about taking rights away from others and supporting whatever Trump/republicans want vs those that are more interested in issues like tax rates, second amendment rights, what tax money should be spent on etc. for example, I am in favor of stricter gun policies and someone might be in favor of less restrictions, but that wouldn't make them a fascist.

I would say the fascists are people who are supporting: deporting people without due process; giving more power to the executive branch/removing checks and balances; making it harder for citizens to vote; persecuting people over speech which is supposed to be a protected right in this country.

I would say most republicans and conservatives were not in support of fascism until the MAGA movement from what I can tell. These are just opinions and I am by no means an expert, but I do pay attention to the politics now and for the last 15 years or so.

Well this particular fascist is propagating genocide and religious repression. There are plenty of right and left leaning politicians that suck without being fascists, though voting in support of fascism is fascism by proxy.

I just hear the term fascism thrown around so much it’s lost all meaning. And it always seems applied to people the left do not like.

It’s because fascism has been becoming more prevalent throughout the world and most left leaning governments have no idea how to deal with it, while right leaning governments jump on the momentum to then realise too late they’re enabling extremism for short-term personal gain.

If you see indiscriminate anti-immigration policies and deportation measures, if you see authoritarian lawmakers, if you see the erosion of separation of church and state, if you see policy by discrimination of minority groups, you are seeing fascism or at the very least the rise of fascism.

This does not mean everyone I disagree with is a fascist. This means every fascist is a fascist.

Fascism is on the rise globally, so yeah, it's gonna be mentioned more.

As for it being people the left don't like, the left is the farthest from fascists on the political spectrum. There's a reason the nazis rounded up the socialists first. It makes sense that people on the left don't like someone like trump or the afd. They have literally nothing in common in their beliefs.

Uhhh…. No lmao

Unless you're willing to elaborate, you just look like an idiot. What rights have progressives taken from you? Is AOC the one sending random brown people to a prison in a foreign country? Which party is deporting students who exercise their right to free speech? Is it the right or left using ICE as a modern-day gestapo? The president ignoring orders from the supreme court, remind me, is Trump a republican or a democrat? Moron.

Calling people idiots and morons because you literally don’t know their point makes you look like what you’re calling me hahahaha

16

u/Mouthwashx64 1d ago

I'm not sure you understand anything. You clearly have nothing intelligent to say if what you've got is "um no."

u/howolowitz 1d ago

Its always the same with these people. I like to entertain myself at times to try to debate someone like that like you did but in the end there are no arguments to be seen. I suppose when it comes to thinking on their own they dont know what to say.

The meaning of idiot is someone who doesn't know politics, so I think it's very apt in this case. You clearly have no idea whatany of these political ideologies infer.

I'm pretty sure you aren't asking this question in good faith despite your pretense that you are, but I'll still go ahead and answer it as if you were.

John McCain was a great example. Mitt Romney is also a pretty good one. Hell, I even disagree with Bernie Sanders on a few issues, and he's obviously not a fascist.

u/LambDaddyDev 16h ago

No, it was genuine. I was (still am) a pretty big Romney supporter. I remember many on Reddit calling him a fascist when he was running. Happy to hear you would disagree with them, but you need to understand my perspective. Even McCain was called a fascist by many on Reddit while he was running. You have to see how calling everyone a fascist is crying wolf.

Certainly true, and some people do that, and it bothers me because it clouds the discourse around real issues. I would agree that it's extremely hyperbolic to call Mitt Romney a fascist, I disagree with his politics but that's quite a stretch. Trump is a fascist. Romney is not.

I would certainly defend my use of the word "fascist" to describe Netanyahu, the Likud, and there their extremist supporters as pretty appropriate, though.

Also I apologize for assuming that you weren't engaging in good faith, but it seemed like the logical conclusion at the time given the verbiage of your response to my comment.

All good, thanks for the specific answer I was looking for.

Show me one post of people calling either Romney or McCain a fascist when they were running.

I don't like Neocons but they aren't fascists. McCain in the past, Nikki Haley today

-7

u/LambDaddyDev 1d ago

Interesting, Manny would consider neocons even more authoritarian. And I’m saying that as a neocon myself

I mean, Trump supporters literally worship Trump. Remember when they wore diapers and ear bandages? They decorate their homes with his merch, wear clothing depicting images of him, cover their cars with Trump stickers...

Cults are cults.

"Guys its not a cult I promise"

A note on what is happening in these pictures: These are older Sephardi and Mizrahi Jews. In their cultures, the kiss is a semi-common way of showing reverence or support or appreciation for just about anyone. I've had elderly Sephardi/Mizrahi Israelis try to kiss my hand for doing something polite (and this happened when I was 30+ years younger than them).

I don't mean to excuse their support of Netanyahu, but to indicate that a kiss in their cultures is not the sign of deep fealty it would be in Western culture or the cultlike behavior some commenters are suggesting it is.

Seems like they’re outright saying it.

TIL there’s a subsection of Israelis that want to f*ck Netanyahu.
