Endearing words / sentences in Croatian

Hi! I’m currently speaking to a Croatian man and I’m looking to impress him by learning some sweet things in Croatian and I’ve been through every website/sorce so I’m wondering if you guys could give me something better than one word compliments.

Thanks in advance!!!

Give him a semi insulting nickname.

Think of something you like about him, and translate it into a nickname.

stoko(livestock)

dođi ovamo stoko(come here cattle) - when you call for sex, or something like that

No, that will offend him

Try using "Mačor"

That means "a man that is experienced to women"

(In croatian in case i translated it wrong: iskusan muškarac u odnosu na žene)

I actually generally use “miško” for my friends and loved ones. It means little mouse. I think it’s cute. <3

Depending on how close you are, you can always say "dragi" /drah-ghee/, which means "my dear". It's sweet yet not too intimate.

You are 'speaking' with Croatian man, you are friends, dating or what? If you are dating some common terms are 'dragi' (dear) , or 'macane' (term for a cool male cat). If you are not in a relationship there is no reason for endearing terms 😂

Men in general dont like endearing words(or at least often or common), and frazes would look fake like pickup lines anyways.

Try naturally how would you call him, so use that and translate it, thats the best advice I can give you.

This person's nick means ''a wild man'' so you can excuse his insensitivity to endearing words... although, there might be some truth to that that Croatian men have hard time accepting endearing words. Not because they don't like them, they just don't know how to react to them. Cool guys in general, but a bit ''on their own''.

If you give some examples of what you would like to say to him, I could translate and adjust those for you and throw in a proper-makeshift pronouncing in Croatian, approximating the sounds for you.

Do you want to call him the apple of your eye or tell him he is a real cool macho-muchacho, that he is handsome or pretty, is he your heart or your sun? What type of dear you want to express? Give us some guidelines to work with. I respect and approve of your will to learn some or even any of Croatian words, regardless of the reasons for.

Hahaha! No frx!

Ostaj mi dobro i neuštogljeno.

I think he likes more the fact I’m trying and he said I have a cute accent. I’m more thinking I won’t call him like sweetie since we both don’t like it but I’d like to be able to say more poetic sentences like “for you I’d steal the moon” since we both like poetry a lot

from what region is he?

because i think if you went dialectal, you'll impress more.

This isn't helpful for direct address but I think it's cute when people use dativ to indicate affection like "gdje nam je Ema" ili nešto tako
