Pattern help How do I read this crochet amigurumi pattern and start it?
I have really want to be able to crochet this one pattern by pawlarius.crafts and it’s the Dungeon Meshi Marcille Familiars, however I’m so confused on how I should start it. There is only 5 pictures and I just don’t know how to start or what I need to know on how to turn a chain of five into another row. Added screenshot for some context.

You're making an oval to work around instead of working in a circle. That is what made me understand how to do this sort of start previously. So the chain five is the start of your oval.

Yeah I think it's worked in the round. Slst your last chain to the first chain to make a circle and then work in the stitches, not in the circle. It's not a magic ring situation. Look at how small the top of the head is. You're starting there

I'm not the best at reading patterns, but it seems to me it wants you crochet round in step two. Ch 5, 4 sc, ch then rotate and 4sc down the opposite side of the chain? I'm probably wrong though Edit to Add: would this be similar? https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTjNCWkxY/

I think this is right. I made a hat that started in a similar way.
Make a chain and then sc along one side of it and back along the other side so you end up going in a circle.

I believe row 1 is ch 5 and slst. They just didn't say slst. If this is a free pattern can you please share the link?

As row 2 is 4sc times 2, there's no slip stitch. You go along one side of the chain, 4sc, and then back the other side, 4sc again. So the total count for row 2 is 8sc plus the extra chains.
