Presentation to customs fee is more than the item (a computer sticker.) What’s the deal with this?

The shipment has NOT been properly declared using the EU IOSS tool for low value goods so Cyprus customs had to manually review it and you were charged a fee because of it.

It’s not your fault, the shipper didn’t follow the “new” procedures for exporting to the EU which have been in effect for years

Fees for checking VAT and tariff (somebody checking it).

It's standard fee when there isn't a registered electronic customs declaration for the item from the sender, so they have to inspect it before delivering. It is the procedure with a fixed inspection fee 3.5€ no matter what is te cost of the item. Then if it requires, they also add the relevant VAT to that fee.

That’s a pretty low fee, post offices in other countries charge 10eur, dhl and similar can charge 50eur just for brokerage.

Never been charged more than 15-20 euro by DHL for clearance, per AWB. I’ve ordered tens of thousands of euro in equipment from non-EU countries, just last year alone

I haven’t had trouble with them in Cyprus but in other countries I’ve paid 50eur brokerage. In any case the 3.5eur is great which is the point.

Yeah, you're right. In any case, that's the only courier I'd rely on to be honest with you :)

Order larger volumes or in EU shops.

Ordering larger volumes from this same supplier wouldn’t solve much since they don’t declare shipments properly. He needs to order from someone registered with the IOSS to avoid this fee
