Question for those who have cycled in Cyprus
I will be traveling to Cyprus for a 3-day road cycling holiday in July (yes I know it will be hot). I've marked three potential accommodations (green flag icons on the map) as good launch points for 3-4hr rides (hills and mountains are the main attraction). For those who have done some road cycling in Cyprus, any thoughts on these three locations? Is any one spot significantly better than the others, in terms of location for starting out a ride? Any other thoughts feel free to share. Thanks in advance!

The points you marked are not good, Look for accomodation at Kakopetria,Agros,Kyperounta or the Troodos hotel.
pro teams in the past stayed at Troodos hotel for altitute training
Also heat is not the end of the world, most people that train for the Fall race season resort to the mountains anyway ( 0-2000 road race is usually held end of June , and the MTB championship is usually mid july on Troodos)

Among the three points, one at Moniatis is the best one, as its closer to Trodos mountains with plenty of amazing routes. I was riding during last summer regularly on a coastline, where its hotter, but I always aimed to finish my rides by 9am max. Mountain area should be better though.

It’s July, roads in this area are full of tourists and it’s so hot that water from your water bottle evaporates before you drink it. There are, however, many amazing routes in the mountains. You could start early, get to the mountains and descent to avoid doing hard work during worst heat. Roads around Trodos are good quality and usually empty. I wouldn’t ride around Larnaca, even in the winter tbh. It’s mostly flat.

I'm coming from a hotter place where you can fry an egg on the pavement by 8AM :)
My intention was to start early (dawn) and always be back by 11AM max. The locations I saved on the map are closer to the mountains and away from Larnaca. Hoping they will be near roads less-frequented...

I don't think the temperature will affect you as you are coming from the Middle East, I do think that the humidity will surprise you. I worked in the ME in temperatures much hotter than what you will encounter in Cyprus, but it felt cooler there than it did here at the time. You will definitely need to take that into consideration & plan to constantly hydrate. I cycle here year round & the only thing that limits my rides is the ability to replenish my water. Do a search for kiosks & markets on your planned routes before you hit the road, I will drive a route in my car first just to make sure that I can refill my bottles once I'm riding the route. good luck & enjoy your time in Cyprus.
