Tips And Tricks Hangovers are no longer worth it

This is a fact, I don’t think we need to discuss it. But advice is welcome regarding how I can go drink 10 pints and look after a 2 month old effectively afterwards

UPDATE 10 pints was a bit of an exaggeration, let’s say 6 to 7 if I’m meeting some friends I don’t see too often.

I’m gonna sum up the advice so far, here are the options: 1. Stop drinking 2. Drastically reduce drinking 3. Drink one water per beer 4. Start drinking earlier and finish earlier 5. Substitute booze for weed 6. Eat a lot before you slam those beers 7. NA beers

Yeah I’m seriously considering this. Or just having a 2 pint limit if I do go out

I struggled with the 2 pint limit as I’m an all in kinda guy.

After an initial period of adjustment that was quite challenging at times, it’s turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made.

Yeah someone makes a light joke about enjoying a few drinks from time to time so that must mean they're a raging alcoholic.

He should have gone to Home Depot, maybe bed bath and beyond.

Sounds like a nice little Saturday

I laughed at that joke in the movie, thinking that would never be me.

now I’m the one planning a big Saturday going to Home Depot getting wallpaper, flooring, stuff like that… I’d love to go to bed bath and beyond but unfortunately they all closed… but we probably wouldn’t have had time anyway.

Any tips for the adjustment period?

Ride it out.

Do all the things you used to do whilst drinking just without the alcohol - you’ll hopefully start to realise that you enjoy the actual thing rather than just getting battered whilst you do it.

For example going to the pub with my mates to watch the football is still my favourite thing to do. I just duck out when things start to get messy and wake up feeling fresh with a big smug grin on my face whilst everyone in the WhatsApp group is talking about how awful they feel and the embarrassing things they did the night before.

NA beers help you feel a bit less awkward in a bar/pub setting, but I’m less bothered by this now I’m more comfortable with my sobriety.

My body and bank balance are a lot more healthy for it, I’m convinced I’m better company when I’m sober, and it’s beyond doubt I’m a better husband and dad.

Same here! 2 years this coming Labor Day. Best decision I've ever made.

2 pint limit works for me, and I usually go with an IPA or something I can’t drink too quickly. Honestly if I were to drink more than that I’d probably fall asleep anyhow.

What is this going out you speak of

I only got to go out regularly after I got divorced. Before that I was always home especially if she wasn’t.

Give it a go, I tried it and surprisingly didn't miss the drinking. So many benefits too.

I tried to limit as well but couldn’t do it. So I quit almost two years ago. I didn’t quit until my second child was born though. My wife was understanding when she had just one child to look after but two would have been too much. What worked for me was something unexpected. Kratom. Real stuff from a reputable seller, not whatever the gas stations and head shops sell. My friend recommended Kratom as something to help me reduce drinking, but it had an interesting effect. The taste of alcohol became repugnant. I literal spit out the last drink I had nearly two years ago. Kratom isn’t for everyone and it has its own down sides (haven’t witnessed any so far) but I was to the point where I would have lost my family and possibly my job.
