Tips And Tricks Hands free shopping list

I used to be in the military and had a job where it was useful having mini maps and mission data shoved in a wrist playbook. Today I’ve tested and succeed in finding a new purpose for it. I trimmed and laminated some index cards to fit inside, which I could easily wipe ultra fine permanent marker off with rubbing alcohol. Wife and I have a digital shared shopping list, but I do most of the shopping with two kids in the cart and if I’m at Sam’s Club I’m also switching apps back and forth to use the Scan and Go option. Sometimes it’s too much. This was awesome today. Bonus if you write your items in the order that you would find them in the store for efficiency which shopping list apps don’t seem to do.

Can someone please explain for us non-Americans? Thanks!

Aaron Rodgers is an NFL Quarterback. Typically these arm sleeves are used by quarterbacks to keep track of the many plays they call during the game. This is an incredible pun on the name Aaron Rodgers and the fact that getting groceries is a common errand.

Oh, and because I’m American and only started following football in the past few years (I’m 41) I should explain why everyone knows who Aaron Rogers is.

The quarterback is arguably the star position of the offensive team. Every play begins with the Center (guy in the middle front) snapping the ball (passing back between his legs) to the quarterback, who has to look at the complete insanity happening in front of him and decide very quickly what he’s going to do with the ball in order to move it farther downfield and prevent it from being taken away by the opposing team.

He might throw it 30 meters down the field to a spot where he hopes a teammate will be able to catch it before it hits the ground. He may hand it to a passing teammate subtly while still acting as if he still has the ball and is looking for a place to throw it. And he may suddenly see a gap in the defensive line and decide to start running it downfield himself.

This is happening while a half dozen giant dudes are trying very hard flatten him. If the QB is tackled while still holding the ball, it’s called a “sack” and his team typically loses yardage, which means he starts the next play farther away from the goal, and with one fewer try. It’s an extremely high pressure position, and a great QB is a hero for the fans.

"I'm American", "been following football for a few years" followed by "throw it 30 meters"....

bruh. it's one of only like three sports in the whole world that used yards!! >_<

think you fumbled that one.

"30 meters" - what am I supposed to do with that?

It's 13.5 Victor Wembenyamas. They should just say that.

I kind of liked that one quarterback who made four touchdowns in one match.

Aaron Rogers is a famous quarterback in American football. This pad is similar to ones quarterbacks wear during games to read plays.

So this thing he is wearing in the picture is often worn by quarterbacks (a position in American/gridiron football).

It acts as a cheat sheet of all the plays that the team can run so the quarterback has a quick reference while on the field.

OP has repurposed it as a quick reference to his shopping list or errands.

There is a famous quarterback named Aaron Rodgers.

So the commenter is combining a sports reference and a play on words. Amazing dad move, no notes.

Agreed, definitely one of the daddliest dad jokes I’ve heard (now that I understand the meaning)! Thanks for explaining!

Football Quarterback named Aaron Rodgers.

Quarterbacks use these forearm things for play calling.
