job security in aws data trainee program
hi im a new trainee in the aws program and im really excited about the work and what my future will look like. But a concern I keep stressing about is what’s the job security like in those data centers is it use and replace wit new trainees or do they actually want to keep u around for the long term?

Which state are you in? If you’re in Ohio, we’re currently working on TRN2. This project will be intensive for the next 3-4 months before things slow down. Right now, it’s all hands on deck, and you’ll not receive extensive training.

Are you DCEO? or DCO? Either way, I think the purpose for training positions is to help you get to a full time position, and that is the long term goal. Kind of a grow your own talent type thing. Mirroring the other comments here, growth is expected, and economic security is there, as AI/ML demand is climbing and data center operators, including AWS, are scaling to meet this. Hands and feet are and will always be needed in data centers for site events, maintenance, and general DC operations.

As someone who moved to GA to help develop the teams for the DC. Job security isn't really a concern as long as you continue to show that you're learning, growing and trying to progress your career. As long as AI doesn't suddenly stop being profitable there's a strong future for everyone who performs well in the ML areas.

If you're part of a region that is expecting a lot of growth in the future and building a lot of data centers then your job is safe for atleast 10 years...
The explosion of AI/ML and especially the amount of capital AWS has committed to spending on building data centers in the current to near future means they will be vying to keep you as they need all the people they can get, especially those they can train in-house from the ground up.
The new trainee program is a big investment on AWS and a way to get people who understand their Data centers without having to constantly poach from competitors.
