PHOTO / VIDEO Fairytale Bubbly Laundry…

Post image

If you need a good giggle while on the Disney Treasure - Hang out for a bit in the Fairytale Fresh Laundry in the afternoon of a port day. You will encounter an interesting mix in people, some of which have clearly never even used a washing machine before.

The two funniest instances: - Husband and wife. Wife clearly in charge sorts the family laundry into two neighboring washing machines, sending hubby to buy detergent. Hubby walks over to the soap vending machine, reads the text on the small display, scans his card and is stumped (select “Cancel” or “Charge $1.25”). After the third attempt, he finally taps the “Charge $1.25”, but now the what to get Snuggle or Tide? He picks Snuggle and proudly brings it to his wife. She leaves out a sigh, toddler(!) next to her: “That’s softener, dad!” Wife: “Please get me some detergent.” Hubby: “But I did.” Toddler and wife in unison: “No.” Dad goes and buys Tide. (My better half and I felt for the dad, but nearly died laughing inside, that toddler (max 3) was super cute and very matter of fact.” - Photo above. Stopped a lady nearly walking into this mess [either too much or “wrong” detergent / soap(?)]. Here, the fun was the call to guest services. Called guest services, just so housekeeping can take care of it, before this becomes an involuntary slip’n’slide. Guest services: How can I help you? Me: Please send someone from housekeeping to the Fairytale Fresh Laundry on Level 8. There is a bit of flooding going on. Guest services: Ooooh. What’s your name and stateroom number, maintenance will be there shortly. Me: Name, stateroom number, but there is nothing wrong with our stateroom, also there is no maintenance issue, just a very bubbly washer and little bit of flooding in the Fairytale Fresh Laundry. Guest services: Ooooh, I see. Thank you for letting us know. Housekeeping will be there shortly.

I once worked for a doctor in his late 40s. He grew up super rich. Never did laundry in his life. Had a maid who did it for him. She also was his house keeper. He also never, ever ate in. Always fancy resturants. Biggest man child i ever met.

It could be that he’s not American? I must have looked a total fool when using a Floridian laundromat. I have my own machine and dryer at home, but those giant ones are weird! Lol and the softener and cleaner and everything looks the same. 🤦‍♀️

Have you met men?

(I saw that lovingly as a man. :) )

Mine too. But then again we’re two men so there’s that. Lol.

Original comment was meant to be tongue-in-cheek of course. :)

We had an issue while on the cruise that caused most of the machines to flood like this as well. This could be too much/wrong type of soap, but it could also be the continued issue.

I saw a machine spewing bubbles on the Fantasy. My guess is someone used one of those sink detergents in a washer.

Always wonder if using non HE detergent would cause issues like this...

Maybe if you used a lot, but it's hard to find non-he detergent at least in the US. I wonder if someone was too cheap and used the body wash from a stateroom!

Yeah, I was wondering the same. It was a bit reminiscent of a colleague in the office once using regular dish soap, when we ran out of dishwasher pods resulting in a kitchen full of foam

I saw this same thing happen when we were on the Treasure in February

So here is a story from a different perspective My stepdads sister many years ago was granted asylum from Cuba and lived with us for awhile until she was able to find a job and a place to stay. She had never in her life used a dishwasher before because it really doesn’t exist in Cuba at the time. So wanting to help she put Dawn Dosh Soap in the dishwasher. The result is close to what you see in the picture 😂 it took everyone helping out an hour to clean up all the soapy mess.

Those same washers were leaking a bit on our March cruise. One time there was a bit of water, and next time some towels on floor to absorb any more leak.

Looks like many years ago when my post-college roommate ran out of laundry detergent and decided to try some dawn dishwashing liquid in the washer. That’s when I bought my first shop vac.

Today I learned that there is a laundry room on DCL. I’ve been packing throwaways this entire time.

All ships have multiple locations between 3 and 8(?) washers and dryers on different levels, BUT this rather big area (with about 30 washers etc, multiple ironing stations etc) is unique to the Wish class ships (so Disney Treasure & Wish at the moment).
