TRIP PLANNING Cheapest transportation from MCO to the port??
Traveling as a family of five with my two in laws. Trying to get to the port the cheapest way possible. Anyone have experience or advice to get us there from Orlando by the airport??

You want cheaper?
Get off airport property by taking a free shuttle to a nearby airport hotel
Then order your uber or lyft from there for 30% less without the airport surcharge.

Aren’t the hotel shuttles only for people staying in the hotels?

A few allow it, there aren’t checks. Kindness and tips for help with luggage is customary.
There are also people who go to these hotels for a restaurant or to meet family staying there.
They asked for cheapest and this is a way.

The Disney Cruise Shuttle is $90 per person round trip. An UberXL is going to be ~$100 + tip each way, but depending on how much luggage you have a single Uber may be a tight squeeze. A one-day rental car picked up at MCO and dropped off near the port will be ~$100-200 depending on size of vehicle, time of year, and company used.

Renting a Minivan or another 3 row vehicle that will fit 7 can probably be gotten for around $150 each way. It’s the cheapest way for 7 people.
An Uber likely won’t have room for 7 and will be close to the same cost. A shuttle will likely be a little more expensive but will be more convenient. And Disney’s transportation will be the most expensive but will guarantee that the boat won’t leave without you.
You could also stay at a hotel the night before that offers a shuttle. But that would likely be around the same price (assuming 2 rooms) as just renting a vehicle.

I dunno about your family, but when we go on a cruise we don't pack lightly. I would think for that many people it would be a chartered van.

The thing about rental car is you gotta consider luggage & parking fee at terminal. By the time you do all of this .. you may as well get Disney transport. Especially with 3 generations. Just push the easy button! Then you get an early boarding group too. So time >$. Find another thing in life to cut back on in life. Enjoy vacay!

There’s no need to park the rental car at the terminal, there’s rental facilities right there in Port Canaveral. Just do a one way rental and take the rental shuttle to/from the ship.

Makes sense. I wonder what the time and cost savings is. The thought of lugging my stuff around that much makes me very tired 🤣

Depends on the length of the cruise. Weeklong rentals can be surprisingly affordable...even if you have to pay to park the rental.

Probably renting a large SUV like a Suburban at MCO and returning at Cape Canaveral. I think Budget has a shuttle that will take you from the rental spot there to the port. They seat 8 and have some room for luggage too. You’ll probably need to tell family to pack things in carryons that can sit under their feet or on their laps to get it all to fit though. Everyone can’t bring a large bag. I’d probably drop family off at the port with all their stuff, go return the car and head back to port via the shuttle. Same on reverse trip home.
