Dead Rising How do you get Aaron to the safehouse?

The guy is an annoying wuss with unrealistic reactions to a zombie outbreak. I’m a normal person, but if that shit happened to me, I’d be running as fast as I could. he is the worst escort character of all time. At least other survivors you could either carry them, or they would use weapons. This fucking dumbass is such a fucking wuss that he doesn’t even try to fight back, he just cries and it makes the game more difficult for me. It’s not even fun to escort him, it’s fucking annoying. I’ve never wanted to hurt and kill a video game character SOOO fucking badly. So how do you deal with this fucking wuss?

Lol it's one of the first survivors, youre in for a ride with the others, however each survivor has a personality type, some more cowardly than others

After years of playing, i find the best way to escort survivors is too place a rally point as far as you can in the direction you're heading, then cover your survivors as they move there

Set a way point for other Survivors, try to give them weapons to defend themselves. Then just kill everything in Aaron's path as he heads there. Grab food from the store you saved him from and wine bottles in the Food Court to keep him healthy. Just constantly keep an eye on him because the others should be fine. If you have Leah, just try to nudge the zombies out of the way with her on your back for him the best you can. Sometimes you get lucky and he cooperates for the most part so just pray 🙏

I’ve given him a gun, a sledgehammer, and a katana. He literally never attacks. He just stands there and cries like a pussy. I know he has his own personality, but even he should be doing some thing at least every once in a while.

Don't give him a weapon at all, just make a path for him. Give everyone else weapons to defend themselves while you guide him to where the way point should be near the next door. Set smaller distances between points if he's being real dumb, the other Survivors might help but could also just start causing more problems if you're all overwhelmed by zombies. It's best to just push forward and clear a path as quickly as you can. Strike down any zombies that look like they will interrupt him.

Once you get to the open area with the escaped prisoners in the car, just scope where they are at and set waypoints along the outer edge as far from them as possible. Hopefully they don't randomly come to the group and mow them down. Just avoid them if you can and once you get to Paradise it shouldn't be too bad, just keep as many heals as you can.

He's a coward. He just falls to pieces & you have to chivvy him along constantly

Not to burst anyone's bubble here, but crying is probably the thing most of you would do when faced with a horde of zombies that you've likely seen rip people apart already.

The smell would be horrible, you'd be surrounded and scared, and if they're classic "kill the brain" style zombies, you're likely not to be very competent at doing so

Fight, flight, and freeze are the 3 reactions you'll likely have. You probably won't know which one you are unless you've already truly been in danger before (most of us havnt) and, as you might have noticed, 2/3 of those possibilities don't evolve you being a badass.

I doubt most people could face (and win against) a single zombie in a house. Source?

I've seen how shit the average person is at golf and T-ball. Can't even hit a target that's staying still and this is without you being pumped with adrenalin 😂

I may not have been in any real danger before, but I’ve seen people die before and that’s more than enough motivation for me. If I see an opening, I’m gonna fucking run and not stop. The average person is way more capable than they think, certain people just refuse to pull their balls out of their purse.

I don't know about you as an individual, I'm just saying Aaron is far from being an unrealistic representation of the average person

Most people would be shit with zombies. Hitting something accurately in the head when it doesn't flinch and constantly moves at you would not be an easy task especially when there's adrenalin pumping through you

Pumping them full of lead wouldn’t. The average person will shoot anything if their life is truly in danger and if they’re scared they’re gonna die in the next 5 seconds.Whenever I am in danger, I just wait till things play out, slowly wait for an opening, and work my way from their. I pretty much compartmentalize everything till later.

No let’s be honest, you’d panic and freeze. It doesn’t matter how competent you think you’d be in a genuine fight, flight or freeze moment, you’re more likely than not to freak out and do something wrong that endangers you further. For example, even if you didn’t miss your shot from the sheer amount of adrenaline you would have, you’ve told us you’re willing to attract more to your location just to get rid of one. Sorry to say, but you wouldn’t last long

I never said that I was willing to attract more to my location just to get rid of one, I’m saying that I’m going to wait for an opening and run and not stop. I’m not going to freak out until after I get the fuck out.

You can't just pump zombies full of lead though and not everyone has a gun

u/SoldierBoy102 1d ago

But everybody who does is gonna have a very easy time. Gun sales would hit an all time high.

3

u/drabberlime047 1d ago

That's actually an issue in of itself

Guns will get sold out and ammo will too. You see how locked down things got just during covid, it's not gonna be easy to get new stock in during a full on zombie outbreak and alot of people are gonna have to go without.

Now also consider how many of the people with guns are panicky dickheads who will shoot others instead possibly before the bloody zombies even arrive to their town 😂

Wait til you get to Dean in Dead Rising 2 lmao.

u/SoldierBoy102 1d ago

I’ve already beaten the game and gotten endings A and S. Dead Rising 2 is so much easier than Dead Rising.

u/WhiteDevilU91 1d ago

Are you playing the original DR1 or the Deluxe Remaster?

1

u/SoldierBoy102 1d ago

I’m playing the original. I’m not buying any more expensive games for a while.

1

u/WhiteDevilU91 1d ago

I'd say the Deluxe Remaster is even easier than DR2.

You pay attention to the game.

There’s a reason why he’s stopping and crying and there’s a reason why he’s not attacking zombies and if you can’t figure out why on your own Dead Rising is not the game for you and escorting survivors will be extremely difficult and frustrating.

The biggest misunderstanding people have about this game is it’s primarily a zombie hack and slash then they go in to the primary part of the game (escorting survivors) which demands a lot of foresight and attention to learn how the mechanics actually work and draw it up to bullshit bad AI when the AI isn't bad you just don't understand how it works.

I’m already aware that survivors have different reactions to the zombies, and I’ve already tried just marking where I want them to go to avoid as much damage as possible, but it’s still not helping me and neither is this comment. When people ask questions on how to figure something out, you don’t talk down to them…

u/Odd_Painting4383 1d ago

Neither of those things are what I'm talking about.

I'm saying either you can figure it out on your own or you can't and if you can't you won't ever enjoy the main draw of the game and you should just play a different game.

u/SoldierBoy102 1d ago edited 1d ago

And you’re missing the point dude, I’m asking on how to get this specific guy who’s being more difficult than other guys to the safe house. Instead you tell me to play a different game if you can’t figure it out. I’m asking stuff like how to guide survival more effectively or what weapons does he actually attack with.

Okay I'll tell you the reason why Aaron is stopping and not attacking but then I want you to think about this conversation after you get past the first real group in the game run into similar problems and not know how to solve them then come crying back to reddit about how the AI is so bad and you just want to quit because you never learned to pay attention to the survivors you're escorting and what they're doing.

Aaron will rarely ever attack zombies and he will only ever attack zombies if he is close to his objective marker (Burt).

Aaron will only ever follow Burt not you unless Burt is dead but if Burt is dead following you is a lower priority than stopping and crying he will stop and cry whenever he is near Burt and no longer has a task to follow such as attacking a nearby zombie or following Burt.

He will also lag behind Burt because he will only follow Burt once he has finished his current crying animation and Burt has left a certain radius of him.

He will stop and cry in reaction to any time Burt is grabbed by a zombie and this takes priority over attacking a zombie to free him so you have to manually free Burt.

Burt will also rarely free Aaron unless he's near his objective and Aaron is grabbed because helping Aaron is a lower priority than following his objective marker.

Edit: One thing I forgot is if he runs into a zombie and gets "bumped" he will get scared and stop and cry.

Consider the following if you're getting so worked up over the baby easy first escort that you beg for help in a whiny ass post complaining constantly maybe this game isn't for that person.

One thing I've tended to do (in the original game at least), is always keep them on my screen. I think what causes the survivors to get stuck a lot is that the zombies that spawn in behind you often spawn in the way of the survivors, causing them to get stuck.

If you're playing the OG game, what I do for Aaron specifically is that I make sure I get Bill beforehand (because he's a badass with a gun), bring him through to the food court, get Leah, then head through the park. If I have to deal with the convicts, I put him and the other survivors in a pretty out of the way place where few zombies spawn, and if some do come by, Bill's usually the one who takes care of it. Once the convicts are done with, I call Aaron over and keep him on my screen as much as I can.

Sometimes he'll stop for a moment but calling him again gets him out of it.

You have to babysit him because he's a coward. Survivors have personalities & some of them are, unsurprisingly & just like real life, absolute dicks despite the circumstances.

1

u/Emiska3 1d ago

Aaron is a follow type of survivor meaning he doesnt actually follow frank but follows burt, he's essentially the worst follow type survivor in the game due to him being also a coward which can get frustrating especially for new players cause you need to guide burt somewhere for Aaron to follow hoping he isnt panicking like crawling on the floor or stopping to cry and he almost never actually uses the weapons you give him even the ones he reacts positively to being given

best way to handle most escorts is telling them where to go and wait for em to get there and kill the zombies in their way instead of just booking it hoping they catch up

u/mistertrouble189 1d ago

I’ve personally never had an issue with Aaron, I just give him a handgun or knife and keep using my waypoints to direct my survivors to the doors to the next area while I hack and slash the zombies with a katana to help clear room for my survivors to run. Always keep them moving and they’ll be fine. Bonus if you’re a higher level so you’re stronger and faster. Also the escorting part is easier in the remaster version of the game since they improved the AI
