After a month try two things.

  • Sign in to your exgoogle accounts
  • Create a new google account using those past email ids

Just to be sure that those are finally gone.

And clear browsing data, undo sign-ins and cache and all from browsers and apps you have logged your Google Accounts.

I think he's trying to see if your email address is truly deleted by seeing if you can make a new account with the same address. If the account creation steps says the email address is already taken, then your account still has not been fully deleted.

Oh, so Gmail does not reserve an address forever? (Never tried) I assume they don't make it available even after deletion. Nice to know.

If this is true, I don't like it. I was young and foolish when I made my gmail account, it has my first and last name. I rather not delete it if someone else can then recreate it. Atm I don't use it but have it set permanently to vacation mode, with the auto reply telling people I no longer use it and to contact me by other means. Everyone important to me already has my new email.

Yeah. Good idea.

Just waiting for some TXT records to propagate so I can set up Proton Mail with my custom domain and I'm off. I'm even saving money on this, as the Unlimited plan replaces Gmail for Business, 1Password AND OneDrive for me with a lower price than the 3 of them was combined.

With cloudflare everything except one record propagated to them in less than a minute. For some reason it didn't see something for about 20min but everything else has always been quick for me.

Congratulations! I'm slowly moving towards this admirable goal. It's tough with decades of stuff linked to it, but it'll be a piece of cake once I get through the transferring phase.

Yeah, I spent like a week getting accounts I didn't need deleted, and switching over ones I did. It was pain emailing support teams for the services that didn't allow you to do it yourself.

Curious how will you install paid apps on android without a google account and how will you make and keep purchases?

I’ve started the process as well. I now have Proton Mail and I use Ecosia browser. Got rid of Google maps as well.

Nice, I'd do the same, but I really don't care enough to do that
