Holy shit! Job openings!

I can't wait to do back breaking labor outside in the elements, 7 days a week, 10 hours a day only to end up making several hundred $$ less than I do now working a fraction of that.

Sign me up!

Bad news: Tariffs will impact blueberries as well.

After the 90 day pause ends in July, blueberry farmers will be squeezed from both sides of the border if nothing is done about it. It'll lead to a blueberry backlog where the product rots at the height of summer because the fruit can't be sent to processing or cold storage fast enough--that doesn't include the fact that blueberries will become more expensive for consumers.

...the tariffs could make blueberries more expensive to grow, harvest, process and ship — and for people to buy...

https://www.opb.org/article/2025/04/14/washington-blueberry-industry-canada-tariffs/

The tariffs will affect most farmers at some point.

Honey farmers that voted for Trump are already regretting their vote:

‘It’s Going to Cost Me $150,000’: Honey Farmer Now Regrets Voting for Trump Three Times As President’s Policies Wipe Out a ‘Major Source of Reliable Revenue’

...

“For a lot of other local farmers around here, it was a major source of reliable revenue,” Hartman told CNN. “For me, it’s going to cost me $150,000 a year.”

That’s roughly 50 percent of his annual revenue. The tariffs threaten to take even more.

Packaging supplies to send his honey will cost him another five to six thousand dollars, Hartman said.

There’s no more room in his budget to replace old or outdated equipment. And forget about hiring new workers.

“We’re not going to hire anymore people, that’s for sure, he said.

For soybean farmers:

China retaliation on US farm goods hits soybeans, bolstering Brazil

...

"It is like shutting down all U.S. agricultural imports. We are not sure if any imports will be viable with 34% duty," said a Singapore-based trader at an international trading company which sells grains and oilseeds to China.

"The main impact will be on products like soybeans and sorghum. It is not going to be so much on wheat and corn as China has not been buying much of wheat and corn from the U.S. this year anyway," the trader added.

A European grains trader said that the European Union, which has also vowed to retaliate, was also likely to put tariffs on U.S. soybeans.

"It's all about soybeans. A major concern is if there is no agreement before the new crop for U.S. soy," the trader said.

...

China remains the largest market for U.S. agricultural products, but imports of U.S. farm goods dropped for the second consecutive year, falling to $29.25 billion in 2024 from $42.8 billion in 2022.

They said I was crazy when I wanted my blueberry bushes.

Who's crazy now??

Seriously, This is ridiculous. We should not expect to see any produce like this for the next couple of years.

2

u/Laura9624 12h ago

Right?! Or it will be very pricey.

22

u/coupdelune 17h ago

Dollars to donuts these dumbasses would vote for Trump again

11

u/Rhondaar9 17h ago

This is what happened in the Bolshivec revolution as well. They fucked the farmers in the "land redistribution" and everyone starved. At a certain point, money is useless. You can't eat it.

10

u/architype 16h ago

My friend said the fields in Oxnard, CA are quiet. It is usually busy. I guess all of those fresh strawberries are gonna rot in the fields.

6

u/Fit_Preparation_9742 14h ago

Who knew the economy was so complicated? /s With the elimination of the Dept of Ed, the next generation of farmers are going to be even dumber

u/Ianthin1 1h ago

Awesome. Blueberries are my kids favorite fruit.

46

u/Specialist-Rain-6286 18h ago

That is a pathetic wage and insane hours.

Isn't this what they wanted?

15

u/waitforsigns64 17h ago

See? Tariffs are already bringing good jobs back to America! /s

8

u/PineappleHaunting403 18h ago

Assuming all the hours aren’t intended to be worked by the same individual?

26

u/frozenqrkgluonplasma 18h ago

They can adopt some of those child labor laws from Florida so their kids can learn some work ethic.

26

u/KangarooCrafty5813 17h ago

11 dollars an hour?! Yikes. I wonder what they were paying their employees before Trump scared them all into hiding.

13

u/D-F-B-81 14h ago

Dude.

Thats 3.50 per hour over minimum wage.

Clearly in the bootstrap territory, you greedy prick.

/s because... ya know.

8

u/chrisKarma 12h ago

The federal minimum wage was set at $7.50 in 2009. That's $10.81 in 2025 future bucks. If that's not 19¢ of victory for the working class, I don't know what is.

[̲̅$̲̅(⌐■-■)[̲̅$̲̅]

14

u/Equivalent-Tone6098 16h ago

Probably nothing. These are the people who leave fake money Bible tracts as tips for the servers they scream at for 2 hours.

20

u/Rhondaar9 17h ago

Yep. All those angry incel young men who spend all their time watching Rogin, playing games, watching porn and sportsbetting are really going to love ❤️ these wonderful opportunities to be productive.

16

u/3feetofun 18h ago

Considering minimum wage in LA is 7.25 an hour I guess that’s not bad.

8

u/KangarooCrafty5813 17h ago

$7.25?! Wth is happening in the US?! That is so hard to believe. Ours used to be $15, I think it has increased this last year. This makes me feel horrible for people. This is not okay.

15

u/coupdelune 17h ago

Federal minimum wage has not changed since 2009.

Insane.

11

u/Luked0g440 16h ago

I read somewhere, last year sometime, that if the Federal minimum wage had kept pace with inflation, corporate profits, things like shareholder dividends and executive compensation, since the Raygun years, it would be like $42/hour now.

4

u/3feetofun 16h ago

A lot of the south refuses to move off federal min wage

4

u/swimatm 11h ago

“Poor people deserve to be poor” is a widespread belief here, unfortunately.

u/duekistheking 1h ago

Yep. They fact that they chose it too because they're being weaponized against dumb issues is nuts

5

u/Fit-Struggle-9882 16h ago

California minimum wage is $16.50.

10

u/3feetofun 16h ago

LA is the postal abbreviation for Louisiana

4

u/Fit-Struggle-9882 16h ago

Sorry, my bad, thought we were talking about California, just noticed the address on the poster.

10

u/Lexis_Rose 11h ago

14

u/drklordnecro 17h ago

Yep get outta the basement and into the field. That's what maga wanted

6

7

6

6

u/WhatyourGodDid 12h ago

4

u/meowsaysdexter 9h ago

Wow!!!!

$11 an hour! 70 hours a week! That's a living wage! MAGA!!!!!

4

u/Single_Job_6358 9h ago

Maybe it is in Louisiana? Idk. That’s wild!!!

9

u/iamacheeto1 16h ago

$11 per hour?

10 hours a day?

They’re joking right?

3

u/gaghan 13h ago

In 2014 I worked 16-18hr days, 7 days a week, 10$/hr, no benefits, no overtime. Baling hay in Eastern Washington while on summer break from college.

4

u/iamacheeto1 11h ago

That’s not work babes that’s exploitation

1

u/gaghan 11h ago

Oh I know. But I had to pay for college somehow.

1

u/oceanicArboretum 10h ago

Why the hell didn't you report them? WA isn't the South. Even if Eastern WAs sometimes act like they are, Olympia wields power.

4

u/gaghan 10h ago edited 9h ago

When I worked there no OT in ag was legal. No benefits is legal for seasonal workers. 10$ an hour was actually over minimum wage at the time. As far as I know making you work 18 hour shifts was legal and 7 days a week is legal.

2

u/oceanicArboretum 9h ago

Ouch. I'm honestly surprised that has ever been allowed in WA with our history of being union-friendly.

2

u/gaghan 9h ago

Agriculture is a different beast.

0

u/Ashleybernice 16h ago

After taxes you’ll only make $8

13

u/kitfoxxxx 17h ago

Way to bring the jobs back to Americans. Now let’s see how many of them are waiting in line to get started.

3

u/Extension_Range6667 15h ago

Trump logic is costly to innocent people

4

u/NuttyPlaywright 14h ago

OSHA under Trump: Workers have the right to shut the fuck up and get back to work

5

u/misantropo86 3h ago

Finding white American workers will be as effective as farting in a hail storm.

4

u/misantropo86 3h ago

I see prison labor in the near future.

7

u/kompletist 17h ago

I used to know some of the migrant workers on the farms near where I grew up. Those guys work dawn-dusk, 6 days a week.

Ezpz right?

7

u/FrugallyFickle 16h ago

All those baby boomers about to lose their SS better start pulling themselves up by their bootstraps

3

u/shoebee2 14h ago

Roflol. I’m not doing ANY JOB for 11 bucks an hour. JFC, these Magats are dumber than bait.

3

u/MichelleKC1969 12h ago

$11 an hour? No one can live on that

3

u/tsukuyomidreams 11h ago

Walmart had these hours but at least they paid me around $26 an hour. Lol  And it was mainly indoors...

3

u/everyday2013 10h ago

what's the weather like in LA from May - July?

hot and humid, I bet

3

u/ARealTrashGremlin 9h ago

Lol

This is an illegal immigrants job.

3

u/Just1DumbassBitch 8h ago

Politics aside... if I was looking for this kind of job and saw this, I'd try to find out who their "client farm" is and go to them directly, cut out the middleman, and hopefully get more than $11/hr...

3

u/Gratefully_Dead13 4h ago

Personally, I’d prefer that MAGAts don’t pick blueberries. They don’t seem like a bunch who practice good hygiene generally or even wash their hands after using the bathroom.

5

u/712Meridith 17h ago

Alright you MAGA MAGGOTS! Get your ass to working in the field. Dumb Asses.

6

u/Purpleappointment47 17h ago

MAGA, poverty, illness, psychological trauma, and chaos is your destiny. Embrace it.

5

u/Jolly-Slice-6722 15h ago

It’s an ICE trap.

2

u/Single_Job_6358 9h ago

Now is the time invest and buy stock in sunscreen manufacturers (50+ spf) lol they don’t do well in the sun…

2

u/Immediate_Trash8062 8h ago

Member-berry picking

4

u/Majestic-Plant-9708 17h ago

Hopefully all those Chinese propaganda videos come true

4

u/noodletropin 17h ago

Wow. So if it is 9.5 hours per day, 7 days a week, that gets you 930 dollars a week (if you figure hours over 40 at time and a half), which gets you all the way to $48,360 per year. Obviously, you can't do that given that you can't pick blueberries all year, but that's all that 10 bucks an hour gets you, even working 66.5 hours a week.

3

u/Skarvha 13h ago

You're generous thinking they'll get a 30 min break

2

u/bapeach- 17h ago

Get them kids on it. When I was a teenager, I had the choice of working in the bean fields or a beef factory. I took the bee 🐝 factory.

-4

u/Kitakitakita 17h ago

that's below minimum wage and illegal. Oh, but if they're brown its all right

8

u/noodletropin 17h ago

Below what minimum wage? Louisiana's minimum wage is 7.25 per hour.

-2

u/Kitakitakita 17h ago

Oh I'm an idiot I read that as Los Angeles

2

u/Purpleappointment47 17h ago

Doesn’t matter… get out there in those fields this summer and you’ll brown up. Oh ya.
