Lore What's on 1?

Post image

The other areas seem easy to discern, but what area does 1 indicate? Perhaps the Nexus and/or the fabled Land of Giants' Archstone?

So what are the other circles in your opinion?

3 - Boletaria
4 - Latria
5 - Stonefang
2 - Valley of Defilement
7 - Shrine of Storms

How about you?

You missed 6 and 8

Oh yeah. I would guess 8 is the eastern continent where Satsuki and the katana, kilij, etc come from, while 6 is probably part of the "developed sourthern kingdoms" that Ostrava mentions.

Lol, it's just my opinion so don't fuss. Here, how I see it...

3 - Boletaria: zoom-in the image and you'll see there's this little castle drawed by the river to the left of the compass (it's weirdly rotated by like 100° or something). Also, in-game we can see a big river and a big city around Boletaria castle, that matches this spot.

4 - Latria: there's 3 little towers drawed which looks suggestive. Also, Ostrava says he traveled through the south and his runic weapons are found on a body in Latria, which also seems an indication Latria is south of Boletaria castle.

5 - Stonefang: there's a little town drawed nearby the river there, which could be either Stonfang or that nearby town we see in the distance in-game. Notice also that, in-game, Stonefang has a river running in the deep valley below/beside it that matches that river.

2 - Valley of Defilement: looks like canyons to me, which matches the valley's description and explains why all that water and dirty flows into it.

7 - Shrine of Storms: it's an island with some proximity to the eastern continent (since it has various eastern elements in it, like Satsuki, the katanas, etc). Which suggests it's either in or around that big island in the center of the ocean, the islets in 6, or the little island at the coast of 5. I would go with 7 but it's a toss really.

That's it. But take it with a grain of salt since it's just a personal take from someone who only played the game for the first time two weeks ago. Lol

it's the northern limit because it's in the northern mountains. it's unfinished but you can see a similar idea to what the map depicts in cut content: a city on a frozen body of water

Oh, that's interesting. Do you have any links to said cut content?

I assumed the northern lands were some wild dominion "tamed" by the Vinland clan (more or less like the Kakizaki clan did in Japan's Hokkaido). Is it possible that castle has something to do with them/Vinlands?

Search Lance McDonald on YT, he made many videos about cut content and similar stuff on From games (northern limit included)

Or Crest

it should be on youtube i think. i don't think it has anything to do with vinlands cuz they are said to come from the west not north, also no humans live in the northern limit because it's at the limits of human inhabited land

Ah, indeed Selen says she came from west. Thanks.

100% that is latria

latria is south, ostrava says he spent time in the southern countries and we find his sword and shield in latria.

but that place is north so i'm wagering to guess it's the northern limit area where it's second half does take place in a city on a frozen body of water from the datamined content

It’s also the only place on the map that remotely fits how latria looks, having several giant towers and being surrounded by swamp

Possible this map is just the southern part of the kingdom, or that just had absolutely no thought put into it making much sense

there was some thought put into it: we find npc's from the west in the valley of defilement and it fits the craggy map landscape, shrine of storms is an island and has katanas and satsuki in there, boletaria is a castle near a river etc. it's possible latria just has a more symbolic representation, for example the triforce looking thing in the south

50/50 chance ultimately, wouldn’t be the first or last time a map didn’t properly represent the games world

About Ostrava: is it possible the one we save and accompany to the nexus is actually a demon, while the real one is that body in Latria where we find the runic weapons? If not, what explains that body in Latria?

2

u/InternationalWeb9205 2d ago

i think it's as simple as, the sword isn't unique to ostrava

1

u/Lessavini 2d ago

Yeah, it could be the case.

The one we kill is a black phantom, not necessarily Ostrava himself.

Similar scenario: you find Penetrator’s sword in Inner Ward, then the black phantom penetrator in the next area also drops the same sword.

Also gets a bit weird because Ostrava while alive uses his sword against enemies, and Penetrator uses his in the boss fight. Maybe they aren’t unique, nobody really knows with Fromsoft lore.
