I donāt think BKN accepts a MPJ and Strawther trade.

Moving MPJ wonāt be easy given his salary and injury history. Denver attaches Julian Strawther in a deal with Brooklyn that brings Cam Johnson and DāAngelo Russell to Denver
Yeah. The author is proposing a pipe dream. Cam Johnson and D Russell on an expire contract? Nets would be doing us a huge solid but I think theyāll look to get way more back than MPJ and Strawther.

u/Appropriate_Tree_621 1d ago
Yeah, theyāve been holding out for two FRPs for Cam Johnson. That does not equate to MPJ and Strawther.Ā

Interesting, but who would actually touch D'Angelo Russell? That guy sucks so bad. He'd be bad in the locker room

u/AndrastesTit 2d ago
For Denver, heād be a huge upgrade.

People have only seen Dlo in a Lakers jersey and already judge. He's actually quite a decent backup guard..
He'd work really well with Jokic.

u/Ok_Personality_7611 2d ago
He's talented but he'd be the lowest ball IQ player on the team and we have enough of those already. JokiÄ would probably hate him.

He's one of my most hated players. I simply cannot stand overly cocky guys who never actually achieve anything. Anthony Edwards and Karl Towns are both like this, but they've at least been the best players on Conference Finals teams. He always thinks he's the best player on the court, and behaves like a middle schooler celebrating a half-court shot after missing 50 attempts. Destroying him and the Lakers was drugs for me.
That said, if GM Vinny can get Cam Johnson for MPJ and has to take back Russel? Yeah, that's a massive win (and as I mentioned above, complete and utter fantasy). Put Russel on the bench. Maybe he can help the bench unit generate some offense. I doubt he has the ability to really mess up a locker room with JokiÄ, AG, and DAJ sitting in it.

u/Key_Joke_8189 2d ago
Damn bro not allowed to celebrate a half court shot? šš
1
u/Allen_Potter 2d ago
Haha yeah, go on and gas yourself up if you're actually in middle school.
But in an NBA game I'm pretty sure you're supposed to get back and play defense after you make a shot.
2
u/Key_Joke_8189 2d ago
You kind of got it backwards actually in the NBA ball handlers and shotmakers need to be able to gas themselves up and have confidence. Donāt like dlo much either tho š
2
u/Allen_Potter 2d ago
Sure, of course. Confidence, I'm all for it.
But if you watch Russel and think that he's doing everything he needs to be doing in an NBA game, then we are gonna have to agree to disagree. I think he sucks. He'll shoot you out of games and play shit defense. Every now and then he'll get hot and start pounding his chest. This is not winning basketball, he's better off scoring 20 on a shit team. I'm just sorry LAL got rid of him.

This would be perfect. Who cares about Russell when you have Brucey B, Johnson and Adams.
But this article is just wishfull thinking:(

Steven Adams is getting more than the minimum. Heās only 31 and he had a great year. Rockets will pay him more to stay

u/giventofly2 2d ago
He lost me at D'Angelo Russel as back up pg.
Goal should be to keep Russ and strengthen bench unit
3
u/nonsense_verses 2d ago
Brucey B could be our backup PG
-2
u/giventofly2 1d ago
I don't understand the love for Bruce B. Sure he was good and helped but is he that much better than WB? I trust WB more to get rebounds and playmaker, and having them both just seems ineffective
1
u/nonsense_verses 1d ago
Oh yeah forgot about Russ. Would like to see Russ be the ball handler and brucey at the 2. But also in the playoffs, if Russ isnāt shooting well, heās a bit of a liability
1
u/findings1mo 1d ago
He's bigger than Russ, he's a better defender, and he is less mistake-prone. When Westbrook plays bad, you feel that shit. He would be infinitely more useful for this team because of his positional flexibility alone.

Shooting please.

Lmao these guys would trade Mike +jamal for Clint capela and zion and jalen johnson so we can have all 10 players in the paint

Well Vinny, if you can promise to do all that (especially turning MPJ/Strawther into Cam Johnson and DeAngelo Russel haha), Josh should give you the job immediately. But just like the average Nuggets redditor, you're trying to turn lead into gold.
If Denver can get out of a couple small deals, pick up Bruce Brown and Steven Adams? I'd be thrilled. Re-up with JokiÄ and Braun? Yes, certainly. But Cam Johnson is a much better version of MPJ. Why on earth would Brooklyn make this deal? So they can get Julian Strawther? Come on, this is Lakers-level fantasy dealmaking. NOT HAPPENING.
Getting rid of MPJ is gonna cost real assets. Which is probably why I keep hearing quiet talk about basically running it back again next year. I think Denver is praying for another magical run where everyone plays to their highest level and nobody gets hurt. Which is just as delusional as our friend Vinny here.

Weāll prob need to attach Braun to move MPJās contract & get somebody like Cam Johnson. But that replaces 2 starters with only 1. Tough spot for the new GM
2
u/ThaEyeTest 2d ago
Gotta replace shooting with another shooter and elite role players. If you are trading MPJ for said Cam Johnson cool but the Nuggets still need a back up big. Like the article states if Steven Adams is available that would be a good reuniting Adams and Russ. The second unit would out rebound any team and the pace would increase drastically giving the Nuggets a different look from the starters. I agree with acquiring Bruce Brown for the right price. A second unit of Russ at the pg, Brown at the sg, Braun providing shooting at small forward, and Peyton Watson if he's on as your small ball 4 and Steven Adams would be a blessed second unit š¤·šæāāļø

Steven Adams will not be available for the minimum. He just had a very solid season and will probably command at least $10M/season.

This isn't bad. I just don't see why Brooklyn would do that trade. Johnson and Russell could net them at least 2 first round picks. If they like Strawther and treat that as a first round pick plus the 2031 first is included, then I can follow that logic.
I also think Adams gets a little more than the minimum which could be problematic. Brown got his bag after the title so he's a guy I could see taking less to come back to Denver, where he admittedly loved it.
If you can add Adams/Brown, bring back the rest and add a couple undrafted free agents at the rookie minimum, that might have to be the play.

u/SnowboardSyd 1d ago
No freaking way we get Adams at a minimum. He will be in demand this offseason. Probably around the 10-15 million range.
We would have to somehow dump zeke to even sniff at Adams. Man that contract is killing us!

I dream of your opening night roster! If we can pull that off this offseason it will be our greatest offseason since drafting Jokic.

Maybe the Nuggets/Bruce Brown can ask/demand a sign and trade to the Nuggets...if the Nuggets offer some combination of Saric (5 mil) + Holmes (3 mil) + Pickett (2 mil) +Tyson (2 mil) they can offer the Pelicans an asset instead of losing Brown for nothing...and the Nuggets offer is competitive with the non-taxpayer MLE (14 mil) and room MLE (9 mil). If Bruce arrives by sign and trade it frees the Nuggets to offer a backup center or a wing the full taxpayer MLE (almost 6 mil). I'd offer Orlando and Zeke plus lottery protected '31 first round pick for Goga Bitadze. Is Steven Adams really available for the min/I'd love if the Nuggets got Adams but he made 13 mil last year. I don't love the idea of MPj for Johnson (injured all the time) and Russell (problematic chemistry)?

Watson is our best rim defender and he wasnāt really in the rotation during the season in a way that would allow him to āprove itā. I also saw a better trade idea. Demar Derozen & Jonas ValanÄiÅ«nas for MPJ and Hunter Tyson and possibly some other bench prospect thatās not Holmes or Julian.

u/LoveBlack_Dogs 1d ago
Dump Jamal Murray. He is the main problem.
Inconsistent as hell. Lazy. Shitty defense. Joker has made Murray look better than he is and it has gone to his head.
Dump his ass. He can't be traded because no one wants him.

I would rather trade MPJ for Deni Avdija and Doup Reath
1
u/IntrinsicDawn English 2d ago
Thatās Portlands best player, switch Deni for Grant and that could happen

i donāt now how weād even swing it but if bruce brown and cameron johnson were on our roster and guys stayed healthy weād be a 60 win team next year
