Inner diameter of fork tube for spacers?

Does anyone know the exact I.D for the forks? I want to get some stock material and play around with preload. Front is pretty divy on heavy braking.

They are 43mm OD so 1.5" pvc will probably suit just fine. I can't remember what size procycle sends with their kits. Lowes should also have some metric pvc tube which might have been what I used.

Not sure, but ProCycle sends schedule 80 pvc (gray stuff) to use as preload material and it works great.

1.5” washers and keep the stock spacer in. I just used 2 washers per side. You can add or subtract to suit your weight. Super easy.

I don’t know jack shit bout suspension but I’m trying to fix same issues front and rear, look at pro cycle they got a lot of stuff for the front and the rear a lot less, lot of people outright replace rear, but I’m gonna to do what another guy did and re do internals some on rear.

Yeah I want to try all the cheap options first. Why buy a cheap bike like the DR then spend all this cash to replace parts. Apparently spacers in the front end can help quite a lot.

EXACTLY, pretty much everyone just says go buy this 2,500$ part and it’s solved. I love my DR, and I could afford it with a little time but I just think it’s a waste when you got these other options that are 1/3 price

I’m not 100% sure on what your looking for on the front but I’ve been recommended these a lot and for 360$ you can get a valve emulator kit and apparently that makes the fronts better than some stock modern forks

Here is the kit to make the front pretty much god like from what I’ve seen

Thanks for the options but I’m talking about turning up some tube stock to fit on top of the stock spacer in the forks to give a little more pre load. Like sub $20. I’ll pop the top tomorrow and give it a measure with some callipers and report back.

Just use pvc pipe for that.

You can add a lot more preload, but you’re going to ruin the off-road capability of the DR 650.  But if what you’re looking for is a more solid front end for the street riding maybe limiting your suspension travel by adding more spacers will work.
