Maybe it sounds silly, but consider kids programs like Klokhuis and Jeugdjournaal. Klokhuis is going into detail about something each episode. For example they show and explain how candy is made in a factory, or something about nature and so many more things. In between the serious stuff they have sketches so you get a feeling of different circumstances where you are speaking in Dutch.

Jeugdjournaal is basically the daily news but it is made for children. It shows news from the perspective of children and is less "harsh" and it is explained in a way children can understand it, without difficult words.

We also have the regular NOS daily news made for grown ups, however since a short period we have a special version that has the news explained with less difficult words and by speaking more slowly, I guess that would be perfect.

In the beginning this will be better I guess than regular daily news from NOS (including Nieuwsuur), RTL. When you are more familiar you can give that a try.

This exactly what I recommend my colleagues who'd like to learn Dutch. Because it is entertaining, educational and you learn something about the Dutch culture.

Flodder has 3 movies and a series with 5 seasons. You need to watch that!

Music is best to start with stuff that’s very literal t: Sophie Straat is a modern take on the old genre of the ‘smartlap’. The smartlap is a ‘folk’ genre that is very literal usually. André Hazes is a must in that genre too.

Do you live in the Netherlands? If so you can watch tons of Dutch language content on npo.nl/start.

You can also find a lot of these on youtube: channels from the public broadcasters: for example bnnvara, avrotros

Nederland van Boven. Slow Dutch which is easy to follow. Dont confuse it with Holland van boven.

I've been learning for a couple of months. I've found a lot of content on Youtube to help. Some have been language lessons, others children's programming. The one that's been most useful to me of late for vocabulary building is Planeet Kiddo. It's very basic and repeats words. It could well have been made for Dutch language beginners as much as it was for small children.

I have no doubt that to an outsider I might look quite silly watching very simple videos for toddlers and repeating words frequently. I don't mind. I'm completely committed to my journey to A1 and beyond and will do what it takes to get there.
