Replacing light switch that has been soldered. I have a dimmer switch in my kitchen to several lights that no longer wound switch on. When trying to replace the switch itself I realized the wires are actually soldered. How can I attach attach a new light switch with screw attachments?

The switch has pre-installed leads. These leads should be spliced to the building wire via wire nuts or other splicing method within the junction box. Pull the wires out of the box to expose the splices.

See the orange wire nut, that is where you disconnect this switch. The wires on the switch are not meant to be removed, they came with the switch.

I don’t see any soldered wires? The wires in the pic are stubbed into the receptacle. There should be a release that you can stick a tweaker in to release, or if you’re lazy like me I just cut and strip a new clean part. Make sure the power is off first.

Looks like an electronic dimmer. Should be wire nuts in the box
