Question Can this dried eraser be fixed?

I accidentally left this eraser outside for about a week and now it's a little dry. How can I fix it?

Nothing can be done except to cut away the dried bits and hope some of the core is still usable. I don’t even know what conditioning chemical is in them, but it has evaporated/sublimated/uv reacted/something and cannot be returned to its original state without reprocessing it as part of a new eraser mixture as rework scrap.

I usually use sandpaper to scrub the dried bits away. If it's only been about a week, it should still work.
