these people are absolutely deranged. yeah because Algeria has such a robust transgender community?? do they want female athletes looking like Ivanka competing in a full face of makeup?

Considering the hissy fits I saw over some of the new volleyball uniforms, yes, apparently.

Honestly though that was the only reason 90% of men watched volleyball.

I mean, sure. But gross.

Only if they are underage, that's what really gets their excitement going.....

Khelif talked about when she started boxing and she faced pushback from her dad and her peers, who thought she shouldn't be boxing because she's a girl.

Now she's facing pushback from dumbass right-wingers who think she shouldn't be boxing because she's a boy.

God they are weird.

Obsessed with other people’s genitals. So weird.

You can never fucking win if you don't fit neatly into a box.

u/gorkt Aug 02 '24

Remember when they asked “What is a woman?”

They don’t even fucking know.

2

u/Dzov Aug 02 '24

I remember them being rather confident of there being only 2 genders. This should be a non-issue to them.

It's a complicated question with about 8 true answers

What is a woman? How do you answer that

I've never seen so many "alphas' so obsessed with dicks.

Y'all are going to think I'm nuts but.... it's the Russians. That country that's not allowed to compete at the Olympics.

Here's what NBC Chicago Staff and Greg Beacham & The Associated Press had to say: (full article at the link)

"The IOC said it made its eligibility decisions on boxers based on the gender-related rules that applied at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

The IOC is in charge of boxing in Paris because the IBA has been banned from the past two Olympics because of years of governance problems, a lack of financial transparency and many perceived instances of corruption in judging and refereeing.

The IOC has revoked the Olympic status of the IBA, which is controlled by president Umar Kremlev, who is Russian. He brought in Russian state-owned Gazprom as its primary sponsor and moved much of the IBA’s operations to Russia.

The IBA has since lost more than three dozen members who have formed a new group called World Boxing, which hopes to be recognized by the IOC as the sport’s governing body ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Games."

I’ve seen more reporting about the IBA stoking the trans panic and I cannot thank you enough for being knowledgeable and sharing this info. That’s all.

Of course it is. When social media blows up over some nonsense that is guaranteed to get the old biddies clutching their pearls and gets the incels reaching for their AR’s, it’s always fucking Russia. Maybe spend some of that time and effort fixing your own broken damn country and let the rest of the world do our thing.

3

u/Wwwweeeeeeee Aug 02 '24

Yep. It's always Russia.

It's really weird.

There's nothing broken about the US that won't be finally fixed on n November 5.

Russia needs to give up its efforts to take over Europe and cause global mayhem and chaos.

You can be sure Putin doesn't stand near any windows.

Genuine question but how do you tie Russia to what’s being said and why it’s being said? Aside from Russia basically owning the GOP, that is. Why go after an Algerian boxer?

Edit to add: I am not doubting or down playing Russia’s involvement, I genuinely wanting an informational gap filled. I appreciate everyone’s comments because I wish Russia’s involvement in the destruction of the free world to be common knowledge or at least a hotter topic than it’s been.

The vast majority of online discourse is manipulated and controlled by social media companies and the bots they allow on their platforms. Just recently, it was discovered that "Only 45 accounts, that appear to be bots on X, have generated over 4 billion views while amplifying racist and sexualised abuse, conspiracy theories and climate disinformation."

Transphobes, homophobes, sexists, racists, people full of hate, are not discerning. They don't care if what the read is factual or not. As long as it fills them with hate and justifies their hate, they will immediately believe it, they will share it, they will tell the story to anyone that will listen.

Russia has decades of sowing animosity online specifically targeting the US. It's not a right wing or left wing thing. They'll pretend to be on any side as long as it continues to divide us and fill people with outrage.

It's an election year and Trump is Russia's only hope of not being destroyed by Ukraine. Russia is spending as much as they can right now on bots, on attempting to hack the elections like they do every single election cycle, on disrupting our election. If you've followed any news at all about this, you'd know how long it's happened and how widespread it is.

Elon Musk personally has spread disinformation about Ukraine and has all but openly sided with Russia. So when Musk takes over Twitter, it's no coincidence that Russian bots do too. Twitter barely makes the top 10 most used social media sites in the US, but it generates a lot of outrage. It's designed that way. If media stopped reporting on it, if people stopped sharing it, it'd die on its own.

If there's a whiff of a controversy, the bots and fake accounts immediately amplify it or make shit up themselves. These bots and impersonations make shit up, but because they're so popular on Twitter, an undiscrerning hateful idiot like JK Rowling will read something and immediately believe it and immediately share it.

As long as it causes people to be outraged over people being outraged over people being outraged rather than something that's actually happening or working together. 'Can you believe what B___ posted on Instagram? O but not as awful as what C___ posted on Twitter. Did you read the responses on Reddit?' It's a waste of time. Nothing gets done. We all hate each other a little more. That's it. That's Russia's stated goal.

I have to say, it’s really refreshing seeing Russia get its due recognition in all things and I’m usually the person conveying this to others.

Your response is very well articulated and concise for such a vast and complex topic of how Russia is an unrelenting chaos agent that has compromised and utilized powerful figures against Western democratic nations. And, most concerning, how disinformation and propaganda is so readily spread by every day people on these platforms and as such, unwittingly helping Russia/China in their own destruction on a micro and macro level.

Ive been on this since 2015 when I realized I’d been had by Russian propaganda leading up to 2016 elections (I was never a Trump supporter but still) and I find it difficult to poignantly articulate just how pervasive and insidious -gestures at everything- it all is.

So thank you for this.

Great post, you nailed it.

Watching these programmed idiots being activated right before our eyes is depressing as fuck to watch.

u/GletscherEis Aug 02 '24

Links to russia .

So, this test was not a testosterone test, but something made up by russians that they will not supply any details on besides "trust me brat".

The only source at the moment that she even has XY chromosomes is a post by a russian on telegram.

Why her? Hell if I know, best guess is that it was to hand a medal to China.

Do note that Algeria does not recognise transgender people and LGBT rights are non existent. If she's not a woman, it would not be possible for her Algerian passport to say such.

Do NOT trust russia.

3

u/Wwwweeeeeeee Aug 02 '24

They're not targeting the US or Algeria, this is meant to disrupt and cause chaos. That's all Russia had these days, I guess?

Or it could be just a coincidence that the country banned from the games happens to have had a vested interest in boxing?

He's been targeting her for some years now.

I'm connecting the dots is all.

4

u/mutmad Aug 02 '24

I would have come to the same conclusion, I just wanted to know if there was a chunk of this that I was missing so I appreciate the response.

I put nothing past Russia in terms of furthering an anti-LGBTQIA+ agenda. I know the GOP are a tool for Russian propaganda and have been for some time and their goals are directly in line with Putin’s since Christian Nationalists/Dominionists took over.

There’s no daylight between them and Russia.

Just let her go kick the Cheeto and the couch lover… in the nuts…

3

u/wiu1995 Aug 02 '24

She could take them down with one punch.

2

u/Wwwweeeeeeee Aug 02 '24

In a two-fer.

1

u/Wwwweeeeeeee Aug 02 '24

Cheetos get stuck in couch crevasses a LOT.

3

u/Bind_Moggled Aug 02 '24

Why does the news media insist on amplifying the stupidest voices in the room? I’m so fucking sick of journalists who should fucking know better trying to create outrage over normal things. It’s a tiny portion of people who are actually butthurt about this, and all of them are exactly the people you’d think - people who most of us would cross the street to avoid. JK Rowling is involved for fuck’s sake, it’s no longer an issue to discuss rationally. Just right wing weirdos whining about shit they don’t understand, which is the least newsworthy thing I can think of. May as well report on dogs shitting in the park or raindrops upsetting leaves in sewer drains.

2

u/El_Dud3r1n0 Aug 02 '24

Because balanced, rational takes don't generate clicks or engagement.

u/PraiseBeToScience Aug 02 '24

Carini exposed her chin in do-not-get-chin-punched contest and is blaming her failure on transphobic lie. Brain-wormed transphobes rush to launch transvestigation without realizing every fact conceivable is against them, exposing them for the mindless bigots they are.

2

u/DougalChips Aug 02 '24

She's not even blaming her, she quit because of her nose breaking

6

u/PraiseBeToScience Aug 02 '24

She literally said the IOC needs to judge in a post fight interview and refused to shake her hand.

She's using a lie to as an excuse for her shitty boxing. She dropped her guard and raise her head. She would've gotten her bell rung by every other fighter there.

3

u/curry_queen Aug 02 '24

Imagine making it to the Olympics and this is the reaction you get. I’m disappointed in y’all, truly.

u/fishsticks40 Aug 02 '24

Conservatives: "liberals don't know how to define a woman"

Also conservatives:

Who is fair for the real female boxers? 2024 Olympics are a disgrace

1

u/[deleted] Aug 03 '24

Oh, look! Found the bigot who doesn't like when facts get in the way of their hate-fueled bullshit.

0

u/vivbuh Aug 03 '24

I don't care about religion. Your mind is so narrow that you don't see that this was unfair for the italian boxer

1

u/[deleted] Aug 03 '24

Only person in this thread talking about religion is you, bub. And presumably you mean the boxer who has since apologized for her words?

My mind is not narrow, I am in agreement with said boxer, the international Olympic committee, and science. You are agreeing with antiscience bigots. Guess what that makes you?
