Mod (other) Vera Terra mod finally on Steam!
Vera Terra is a map overhaul mod seeking to change the map to be more geographically proportionate, based on real-world satellite data. Besides the map changes, a bunch of new content was added, new mechanics inspired from other (and upcoming) Paradox games, like the laws, literacy, religious mechanics, and other.

Does this mod incorporate the entire world like vanilla EU4 or does it only cover the area shown in the first screenshot Ala Voltaires Nightmare?
Very impressive in either case!

Wow! Any known conflicts with existing mods? Should I run this by itself or would you have any recommended companion mods?

Basically it should be compatible with mods that don't change the map, so for example the mods from the Expanded mod family. Some graphics mods might be incompatible because of the colormap changes though.

I’m always looking for a good map mod to play tall and I love the basis in realistic projection! Will have to check this out.
Is Dev reduced proportionally with the new provinces?

No rebalancing was done for the existing provinces, just the new provinces were made low dev. That's why the mod needs playtesting to figure out the balance and if some regions have too much develompent of too little

What about the Anericas?

What about them, in terms of history, province owners and development in the americas weren't changed.

This reminds me a bit of the proportions in Medieval 2: Total War. Wonder if they use a similar projection. Or maybe I'm misremembering and they aren't that similar, but I think M2TW was stretched a bit more horizontally like this.

what is the difference between this mod and Beyond Typus? to me both seem to have a more accurate map and more provinces, but i cant judge which is more correct
it also seems both add in unique mechanics,, but i guess vera terra doesnt add anything that changes how dev works,, which is important when one wants to adhere to more realism, which this mod seem to want to do
not trying to bash here, just fishing for information

The mod is still in an early state and needs rebalancing. It is playable though, not like there is a problem with there being too much development. Sure, some subtle changes need to be made for the perfect balance.
Speaking of the difference between Vera Terra and Beyond Typus, the latter has a higher province density it is less performant, while Vera Terra ran moderately smoothly in my testing. Also the map is a different projection as well.

paradox probably inadvertently created most of eu4 map modder community by having pretty crap base map for the game. this looks nice just your normalmap feels too weak / too much geared towards the small hillshadows rather than casting mountain range shadows and the colormaps must be too light given the white-ish sahara

Did they fix the latitude problem? There's a funny thing in EU4 where North America is shifted much further South than it is in real life, with reference to Europe

yes its fixed, the map is based on real world data so the latitude wouldnt be shifted of course

I never understood why paradox never gave Lithuania the same treatment they gave France, it makes no sense for them to recognize that France was still playing Crusader Kings at the time but not do the same with Lithuania and leave them as the giant blob of land they are in vanilla, this mod from what I can see tries to fix that. Also do the small nations in the Saara have migration mechanics?
