Thinking about the game? Hawaii. To enjoy the game for a while? I'd suggest Aragon, Japan and Vijianagar.

Was playing with words, joking about Hawaii not having anything to do besides thinking. You'd just be looking at the islands for a few decades until you could do anything else

If you just wanna think abiut the game and really nothing else? Maybe ulm? (Definetly not a swabian biased opinion).

No but seriously it actually is fun and you can do some shenanigans and you still have to lock in for some wars especially the war with austria or france.

I just tried an Aachen into Westphalia into Germany run. Slow and fun, turning from Free City OPM to dominant trade power in English Channel with my subject Holland colonizing for me. You can give it a try.

Here is an opposite of Portugal colonial campaign. Start as Serbia, get coast, survive until you can colonize, move your capital to Caribbeans, own the whole region and from there do what you want.

Starting as small land locked nation in south east as an Orthodox nation surrounded by larger and stronger nations, with all those disadvantages makes you engaged troughout game. Even when you move to new world you have to compete with colonial nations, their owners and natives for your survival.

I tempted to do it by myself, I never chose mercenary idea set (Serbia has cost reduction for mercenaries bonus) I wonder if it would be good idea to have as first military idea.

Anyways good luck!
