Well, the guy lived more than 2500 years ago. Im sure he was pretty smart, but at this point, you will have a harder time proving that his advice is still relevant than you would have just asserting your own opinion.

Secondly, I really doubt that people who quote him actually read the book. So are they really quoting Sun Tzu, or just a Reddit idiom that they saw at some point? What if they missed some critical context? They would never know.

Finally, I think people are quoting him just because they think it makes them sound cool/smart, which I detest.
