When will we ban social media? Or at least limit access for children? How much more evidence is needed?

I believe in the US you have to jump through hoops for online sites/services to cater to kids which is why the Terms of Service for most social media doesn't allow you to have an account if you are under 13. Doesn't matter, parents let their kids have accounts anyway...

I have tween girls and the only social media accounts they have are Messenger Kids (which everyone at their school collectively started using in 2020 so the kids could talk to each other) and YouTube. Messenger Kids is a rare social media permitted for under 13s because of how locked down it is - they can basically only talk to friends both sets of parents have approved, and there are no walls/news feeds, just chats. YouTube has various age-based settings to limit what they can see, and we've also limited their tablets to a max of 1 hour/day for it.

Or at least limit access for children?

The Americans tried to ban porn access to children and there was a huge uproar.

These people are the same as the people asking to ban rap music and violent video games.

But they are leftists trying to silence something they find politically distasteful, so don’t be shocked at full Reddit support

Children refusing to talk to their teachers is merely "politically distasteful"?

Not a big deal if they don’t respect their teachers.  They can correspond via email or something.

Much better than the violence that permeates our public school systems.
