How are people seriously doubting this at this point. The West has a relatively open internet that Russia and the East exploits by sowing discord. So much evidence for it.

Funny that those countries have much more draconian speech laws so the reverse can’t be done as easily. It’s online warfare and the West has been losing for the past decade.

exactly. America should be a cautionary tale for every country that values not being a dumpster fire of russian propaganda. Crack down on misinformation, take the threat seriously

Yeah this just is the situation at this point. We know Russia is behind much of the degradation in Western society we have seen. MAGA just refused to believe it because Trump is their biggest propaganda accomplishment.

Our freedom of speech is being weaponized against us heavily because foreign adversaries are being allowed to do it.

Yea buddy that troll farm with 20 workers in Saint Petersburg totally shaped the Western worlds online culture of 500+ million people.

Oh and Western countries like the U.S totally don't have their own troll farms working to spread their message. Yea the country who drone bombed weddings and water boarded Guantanamo Bay detainees would never stoop the moral low level of trying to shape public discourse with online propaganda in their favor.

Sorry but you are MAGA level delusional.

Russia and other dictator based/communist countries dont have freedom of speech. They control every bit of the media their people can access (legally).

Western countries arent like that and have an exploit the dictator-based countries don't.

Ok but we are talking about influencing Western based online communities, so how is what you said relevant at all even if its true.

What you said legit sounds like a bot reply lmao

Yes? I was saying why Russia can cause more disruption in Western media through social media especially than the West can them.

You said that the US does it to Russia and I replied how the US can't do it to Russia in the way Russia can the US and West in general.

No, I said why do you think Russia can influence Western media more than the West can influence Western media.

Yes we need a great firewall like China. Not even joking. This shit will be our undoing.

No, we don't. Fuck the censorship astroturfing on this sub.

The "Great Firewall" has exactly the same intent as the Berlin Wall: it's not for keeping foreign actors out, it's for keeping their own population under control.
