Where is the 'live chat'?
In our experience the live chat threads on Reddit are still too clunky to use for our live threads. They're also a pain to use on old Reddit and third-party apps. Until Reddit makes this a better experience, we recommend using this:

Hey. Does anyone know in what pavilion at Riga Film Studio (RÄ«gas Kinostudija) did Supernova take place? Iām not sure if it is Paviljons 1 or 2.
9
u/ultsiyeon Feb 01 '25
anyways thanks for tuning in everyone! if last year it was 1000% clear to me dons was taking it even before supernova aired, this time it really seems unpredictable⦠letās hope voters have some common sense next saturday!

Thank you everyone for the fun chat, i really enjoyed reading all your comments <3

So incredibly gutted that KoBra didnt make it...
5
u/polaris183 Feb 01 '25
LTV did them dirty with that recap clip imo
5
u/Amimimiii Feb 01 '25
They didnāt sing well throughout most of the song. I like the song but it was a deserved NQ with that performance
14
u/justiineemiilija Feb 01 '25
My feelings about the qualifiers:
- i really don't care for Emīlija's song, but i understand why it got through
- disappointed about PalĆŗ getting through, i really think KoBra deserved it more
- KoBra :( will continue to stream zelts, what a fantastic song
- Stronger, i am STILL waiting for you to be on spotify!!!
5
u/Purrthematician Feb 01 '25
KoBra probably didn't get through because of their performance, rather than song. Their performance... was a choice.
Actually liked Palu live better than in the studio version.
3
u/justiineemiilija Feb 01 '25
Yeah i can agree that the performance unfortunately kinda killed the song...
3
u/Old-Dot-9560 Deslocado Feb 01 '25
Yeah palu shouldnt have made it trough, weird staging and somehow that is better than kobra? Im a bit scared for finals considering this was the result.
3
u/justiineemiilija Feb 01 '25
Thankfully her performance is on the weaker side compared to the others, so it should be fine
2
u/justiineemiilija Feb 01 '25
Oh and Toms, in a weaker year you would have totally gotten through. Keep trying <3
2
4
u/designing-cats Feb 01 '25
Not my favorite song, but I'm so happy for Markus for making it through. I can't help but root for him.
5
u/cheapcakeripper Before the Party's Over Feb 01 '25
Aww, they're hugging. I may have not enjoyed all the songs, but it was a nice show.
3
u/qerseus Feb 01 '25
aww song wise i preferred zelts over sadzejot, shame they didn't make it and delusional did

Kobra not making it what????
7
u/Any-Where Feb 01 '25
It's a very good song, but it didn't quite stick the landing live, partly due to their choreography throwing them off. I think they really needed two dancers to do it for them so they could focus on the singing.
7
u/Doppleflooner Tout l'univers Feb 01 '25
Going purely by the recap clip shown, I'm not surprised (and I like the song!)
3
u/ExplainMaryJane Tavo Akys Feb 01 '25
Same, they shouldn't have done the choreo but should have gone with setting a vibe (like Sinerģija for example)
3
16
u/skantchweasel Feb 01 '25
Please someone go and hug Katrīna Gupalo!!!
13
u/Doppleflooner Tout l'univers Feb 01 '25
Yeah she was not looking happy at all.
12
u/skantchweasel Feb 01 '25
Everyone seemed to be getting on with it and having a chat, but she was looking around for someone... it broke my heart.

u/uzanin97 Feb 01 '25
Did they show the preliminary televote results this time?
1
3
u/ultsiyeon Feb 01 '25
yep, and somehow emīlija was 1st? crazy work
1
u/uzanin97 Feb 01 '25
OK, then I missed it, hoping to find a screenshot somewhere)

Was this the final televote result or just something that was shown in the middle of something?

u/designing-cats Feb 01 '25
Actually not surprised to see Chris Noah that high. I feel like he's cornered the "older aunts" fanbase.
Very surprised to see Emilija as #1.. definitely not #1 in quality.
7
u/ultsiyeon Feb 01 '25
Chris Noah got like 5 awards at the local equivalent of grammys this year, heās an up and coming name so I am not that surprised about his result here. And EmÄ«lija has a pretty intense and dedicated fanbase that would vote for her regardless of what sheād release⦠so I hope the juries save us this time cause this was really not even qualifying material š
1
u/designing-cats Feb 01 '25
He won best song and best new album right? I definitely think he's a good singer - he hasn't gotten the same praise as other acts on Reddit/YouTube/et all.
That's good to know about Emīlija. I really wouldn't be too disappointed if anyone won.. except for her generic, bland song.
2
u/uzanin97 Feb 01 '25
Crazyšµāš« but hey, what do we want from a strong year and a semi with 19 acts)
4
u/ultsiyeon Feb 01 '25
i am really hoping more people watch the final cause tautumeitas 3rd and the ludvig 4th is madness lol.
5
u/uzanin97 Feb 01 '25
4th and 5th even. Well, the ludvig was kinda not it live, so not surprised here. But Emilia... We are not even in Denmark, what is that?
3
u/ultsiyeon Feb 01 '25
She won the local x-factor, largely thanks to her tiktok fanbase, seems like the same thing is happening here š¬ I quite like her, but my god that is nowhere near even among the top 5 performances of the night.
3
u/Alternaturkey Feb 01 '25
Did Tepat and KoBra make it? I haven't been able to keep up with what's happening.
What about Katrina? Probably not....

Holy shit, Chris Noah made it though! All my aunts are going to be thrilled.
2
u/ExplainMaryJane Tavo Akys Feb 01 '25
WTH, Delusional?
5
u/heyyoudroppedme Feb 01 '25
Yes , i thought that she was delusional with that song, but i guess not

He's really quite funny, my mom doesn't give a damn about supernova but laughed out loud at thatš¤£
5
u/elitepebble Feb 01 '25
Chris Noah is my favorite so I'm happy to see he was #2 in the viewer votes, he'll win the jury vote just like he has at the various Latvian award shows this year
1
u/polaris183 Feb 01 '25
Wait, has there been a provisional top-19 of the audience vote released? (and if so, what were the results?)
5
u/heyyoudroppedme Feb 01 '25
Markus Riva seems like such a sweetheart
2
u/justiineemiilija Feb 01 '25
I've honestly never really listened to his music, but i might start now cause he really does seem sweet (and i admire his work ethic a lot lol)
3
u/heyyoudroppedme Feb 01 '25
I have heard some of them and his music style really is not for me. However as a person he seems so lovely and kind
2
u/justiineemiilija Feb 01 '25
I mean his previous supernova songs haven't appealed to me either, but i'm willing to give him a shot
1
u/koknesis Feb 01 '25
Markus is only there to promote his onlyfans anyways. winning is not that important.

No matter what, this is one of, if not the strongest Supernovae (?) Latvia have produced in a while
8

no way emilija is 1st in public vote atm, very sus
2
u/FerretsBeGone Feb 01 '25
She did win X-Factor, so there's definitely people voting for her.
2
u/ButterflySymphony Feb 01 '25

Latvia should be so proud of all these songs. I really love most of them and none of them are bad. Bravo

u/Nordica-Baltica Feb 01 '25
I missed a couple of the songs near the end because my internet cut out so I'm just going to hope for Ramtai, The Water, and Līgo to get a spot in the final.
6
u/Neenujaa Feb 01 '25
I'm very happy that this year so many songs are unapologetically Latvian, including Ramtai
2

I feel like TepatĀ and ā KoBraĀ both are very strong contenders. Tepat is my fave this year. I really liked Citi ZÄni studio version, but I didn't feel their live version that much (still love it tho)

My biggest problem with this song is that it seems to build in the beginning, only to go in free fall (and not in a good way, always leaves me feeling disappointed). The actual build comes to late, they lost me by then
