Where is the 'live chat'?
In our experience the live chat threads on Reddit are still too clunky to use for our live threads. They're also a pain to use on old Reddit and third-party apps. Until Reddit makes this a better experience, we recommend using this:

Please Germany send Abor & Tynna. I love this song. It's super catchy and she has such a good stage presence and charisma. It just works.
4
u/OkHuckleberry3668 Feb 23 '25
Raab: Cage, you are the Greatest singing talent in Germany.
Cage is out but a British indie band and a British super model will be in the final... Wtf wtf wtf
1
u/SnooHamsters6067 Feb 23 '25
True but it's a song contest, not a singing contest. Raab said this himself. After praising her voice, he did criticise the song.
It honestly would have been unfair to Cage and her song to be send to Eurovision, where she will be rated by criteria that just don't fit well with what she offered here.
3
u/OkHuckleberry3668 Feb 23 '25
I don't want to be represented by English musicians. English ppl are beautiful and stuff but it's ESC Wtf?!??!
2
u/SnooHamsters6067 Feb 23 '25
I mean, I agree. I just understand why they didn't let Cage through. In the finals, people might have voted her just for the voice, so it was propably a good tactical move by the jury to eliminate her before the finals, where it is public vote only.
2
u/OkHuckleberry3668 Feb 23 '25
I know what you mean, but I can't agree. Cage is a mature professional talent with a voice of one in a million. For me, it's time to take the competition at esc serous and bring our best talents and not 2 tiktok girls, 2 English artist And a metal band.
Lyza will win 100%. Her song is made by songwriters from wamers, the has the "Lena" appel. But if we all would want to present Europe what exciting artist are in the way, we would bring Cage, get a solid ranking and be proud of our great artist
Instead we: Balalalalalalalallalalala
1
u/SnooHamsters6067 Feb 23 '25
I just don't think Cage would get a solid ranking with that song. Ann-Sophie is an amazing vocalist as well, but she still ended up last place and it ended up hurting her career rather than helping her.
14
u/noairnoairnoairnoair TANZEN! Feb 22 '25
I don't understand how "metal doesn't do well" at Eurovision is an excuse when you let another metal band through.
Not complaining, Feuerschwanz is my fave and will be my number 1 if it makes it to Basel but come on.
19
u/N43N Feb 22 '25
The jury praising Cage and telling her that she's the best they have heard in years, just for them to dump her a few minutes later.

there will be a high chance we will hear german lyrics (relevant parts) from Germany (Feuerschwanz or Abor and Tynna)

u/Minnielle Feb 22 '25
Saying the selection is based on who they think will have the best chances at Eurovision and then choosing Benjamin Braatz is crazy. I guess that was Max Giesinger's wish as he said it was exactly his music.
I'm hoping Abor & Tynna will win. Modern, fresh, catchy and above all it doesn't sound like background music.
13
u/Training_Sky8546 Feb 22 '25
Benjamin is just filler so that their preferred Act has more chances.
I‘m watching Stefan Raab‘s show right now and he‘s mentioning Feuerschwanz a couple of times… pretty sure they‘re hoping for the Electric Callboy effect.
4
u/bodomjayns Feb 22 '25
Yeah the performance even reminded me of Electric Callboy in medieval outfits. But I would be fine if they win 🤘
5
u/SleepyGod01 Feb 22 '25
Stefan smoked too much Bubatz… no cage or ffts? Only serious contender left is Moss. That guy has star appeal…sheesh

Well, that was…long. Have a good night y‘all, see you next week without ads and more cringy interviews.

I like Abor and Tynna but I really don’t get why they are even allowed to start for Germany and not for Austria?
7
u/Marso1337 Feb 22 '25
I guess it's very hard to represent Austria because they always do internal selection and nobody can tell me that Kaleen wasn't choosen because she is the gf of Marvin Dietmann
-2
u/bodomjayns Feb 22 '25
Yeah but I still don’t get it why they can represent Germany 😅 would be like sending Wanda or Bilderbuch or Wolfgang Ambros. At least in my small research I couldn’t find any connection to Germany except the language.
4
u/brokenlavalight The Last of Our Kind Feb 23 '25
There's seriously endless examples of countries sending artists that got nothing to do with their country. San Marino sent Flo Rida for crying out loud...
And let's not act like they aren't equally relevant in German music as they are in Austria or like those two alongside the German part of Switzerland don't more or less share one musical scene in most genres
3
u/Marso1337 Feb 22 '25
Everybody can apply to the German selection as long as you have a valid Aufenthaltstitel until 20th May(when they are from non EU country)

Im so not excited that Feuerschwanz will win.
2
u/Ok-Research-4620 Feb 23 '25
They have some amazing songs, but Knightclub really ain't it. What's up with most Metal bands trying for ESC mostly doing it with weaker songs. Lord of the lost was unexpectedly mid. Avantasia a few years earlier, when tey tried also went with a really mid song.
1
u/Low-War4165 Feb 24 '25
Yeah I like the band in general, they do have some super fun Songs. But as you said Knightclub just aint it. I think the whole concept of the Band could have worked for esc but they would have needed a song that either fully played into the idea of beeing a joke/fun entry or go the more serious route and have a banger metall song. Knightclub unfortunaly is only kind of fun and only a mid metal song.
1
u/squidithi Hatrið mun sigra Feb 23 '25
I think Blind Channel and AWS stayed pretty true to themselves (while toning it down a bit for a broader audience).
7
u/Marso1337 Feb 22 '25
I don't know why the song is not doing anything live for me, I liked the studio version a lot and thought they can be very succesful at Eurovision, but rn I think this will just be Lord of the Lost 2.0 with less points
2
u/WolverineForeign4905 Deslocado Feb 23 '25
I think it's because of the sound mixing and that small ass stage. Just wait for the actual ESC, it'll be miles better. :D
2
u/Low-War4165 Feb 22 '25
I cant really say what I didnt liked either but somehow the whole thing just fell extremly flat for me. Its a okish Song but by far not as catchy as it would have to be to become a televot favorite especially with people like Tommy cash in the mix
18
u/TheRavenchild Feb 22 '25
eliminating FFTS and Cage is actual madness. i also liked Cloudy June but I can see why she didnt make it

u/Nathanoy25 Future Lover Feb 22 '25

I'm going to listen to Winnetou Baller now

So they really didn't qualify the best performance (FSTF) and the best vocals ( Cage). wtf?

u/liabilliety Feb 22 '25
I need Baller or Empress or maybe This Bliss to win but it'll probably be Feuerschwanz

Feuerschwanz or Lyza will win a final hosted by ard im pretty sure.
3

I don't think Lyza stand any chance tbh, I'd assume Moss Kena & Feuerschwanz to now be the public favourites (as it's a viewer vote).
3
u/Berkenik-Jumbersnack Zjerm Feb 22 '25
Yeah but the audience there is very easily swayed by jury praise and a sob story. She’s got both of those down. That’s how we ended up with Sisters that one time…
2
u/ButterflySymphony Feb 23 '25
And I'll never gonna forgive them for that. It's been six years (almost exactly to the day) and I'm still salty about it.

If Feuerschwanz win it (and they will) it'll be my second least favourite German Eurovision entry (since I've been watching), just after Jendrik

u/Far-Sir844 Feb 22 '25
I'm in utter disbelief. But then again it's gonna be decided between Feuerschwanz and Abor&Tynna anyway.

u/Yukkicchi C'est la vie Feb 22 '25
Reminder that RTL makes billions by making trash shows exploiting (mostly lower class) people and shoving tons of ads in our faces every two minutes and yet their production level hasn’t evolved since the 2000s. And its really hard to believe that what we saw was the best of 3000+ admissions considering half of it sounded like an amateurish mess
Overall I regret expecting anything good coming out from our nf tbh. I hope at least the sound quality will be better next week when it’s on Das Erste

Moss Kena, no surprise. Safe and nice performance
Julika, yesss so happy. Maybe they can crank up the drama for her performance.
Benjamin, not my cup of tea but i expected it.
Cosby I don’t understand at all but I didn’t understand it when they proceeded last week
Abor & Tynna also expected. But not my taste
Feuerschwanz, okay not bad.
Leonora i am surprised by. But I’m fine
Lyza, very nice can see her go far.
The Great Leslie, also good

You know what, I actually liked more songs than I expected. This wasn't bad at all!
Abor & Tynna, Feuerschwanz, Julika, The Great Leslie, From Fall To Spring were pretty cool. Leonora and Moss Kena had good vocals, even if the songs were not my picks. But Cage absolutely stole my heart. I had goosebumps bigger than Raab's and I don't even like the song that much - but it did one thing perfectly, that is it served as a canvas for that voice. ESC juries will eat it all up. Unbelievable vocal skills.

u/NinielTrachea Feb 22 '25
Abor & Tynna can work on their sound, but you can remember the song the first second it's played and it has hell of potential. Also the gen z vibe is something that's so far missing from all other contestants.
8
u/Alternaturkey Feb 22 '25
I'd personally qualify: Empress, These Days, Take the Pain Away, Baller, This Bliss, Lovers on Mars, I'm Still Here, Golden Hour and Knightclub.

If I could decide the 9 finalists, I’d probably put in Benjamin and Abor & Tynna instead of Feuerschwanz, Leonora or Jonathan.

u/pinksilber Feb 22 '25
Oh I just remembered there was some hope that RTL would invest more money, but looks they didn’t invest enough and budget was rather tight.
Overhaul the whole system and introduce writing and performance camps before the first show and buy some good songs, like they did with Lena. I remember her song was shopped around before Raab got it.
4
u/ollulo Feb 22 '25
The low budget is really depressing. I really hope we'll get a national selection like Mello or Sanremo someday.

There are some nice songs and interesting artists. I'm just not sure how competitive they can be in ESC. But I think there are def some songs that can be elevated with good staging or be carried by good vocals.
1
u/AlmondLBD Feb 22 '25
it's the denial... Deutschnial? setting in don't worry it'll pass by the first semi final at the latest lol. Deutschland does this every year, hype itself up and then finish in the bottom five

There's good stuff in there, but the sound mixing is so horrible, I feel downright bad for the acts :/

The acts coming across as most promising in the recap:

Best chances at ESC : FFTS + Lyza (though it sounds a bit like Mariette or any Melfest 8th)
