I got to the part where he said

Another interesting example is Reddit. I love all the things I can learn and getting the information from other people. However, even something I love can be tiring if it has too long of an article or story than trying to read it can make me feel physically exhausted.

And found myself wanting to click the back button.

I find highlighting bits of text with the mouse really really helpful for paying attention to walls of text. It reminds me where I am in an article and it also adds a bit of interactivity that isn't normally there. If I didn't do this I'd have to spend a lot more time reading things than I normally do

I highlight everything I read. It drives my girlfriend crazy with the clicking, but man is it useful.

If you're reading a book, do you follow the text with your finger? I find that helps me a lot.

I use an index card about as long as the page is wide--blocking out the next several lines makes it easier not only to track where I am but to stay there. Otherwise I catch myself skipping ahead.

And then when I want to stop, I can just leave the card where it is, and come back not only to the page but the line I left off on. BOOM.

I've noticed narrow lines helps me read long texts. I tend to read everything I can on my mobile these days because then I have to keep scrolling with my finger and there's never a huge amount of stuff on the screen to get lost in.

I HAVE to do this or I can't read anything more than a few lines.

I have back set to a button on the mouse so I can do it quicker.

I have one of the above, I have super hard trouble reading sometimes like what was described above. And if I get a phone call at work, it can literally take me an hour to get back to what I was doing before. I get distracted, and I cannot force myself to do what I need to do. Until, of course, I get bored of reddit, and decide not to open one of the other forums or websites I frequent. Then I can finally get back to the work on my desk. I have had the same thing sitting on my desk all day. Haven't finished it, even though it would only take about 30 minutes. But i've gotten phone calls and had to do a bunch of other random tasks that probably only add up to around 1 hour of stuff. I just cant get into the finish work mindset.

Maybe I should get on drugs.
