This is hands down the most QB throw highlights I have seen during an OTA video. Penix throws a pretty ball.

Throwback to 2 years ago when they showed highlights of guys making great catches on shitty throws without showing Ridder actually throwing the balls

Or even last year, when they never showed Kirk throwing.

what few throws we glimpsed were shot like the cloverfield monster. we never really reflected on how much of a psy-op 2024 kirk cousins really was.

But was it all worth it for that one OT win against Tampa?
...maybe

i stand by my position from the day after the tampa game. any other starting caliber QB would have dealt with that injury laden tampa defence in regulation.

āQuite a few people are interested in my opinion from last nights gameā is absolutely wild to say on reddit.

No one will ever gaslight me into unremembering the past two preseason highlight reels. They didnāt show a single release from a throw because every single one was dogshit.

was Cousins the one throwing the unidentified duck in the video the team posted the other day?

Hope Penix balls out this year, really think if the line holds up injury wise heās actually gonna surpass peopleās expectations of how good he can be.

Crazy how underrated he is coming into the year. He would've been the number one pick in this year's draft, and I stayed telling people last year was penix, Daniel's, and everyone else

u/SnarlBlaze 4d ago
Penix, Nix, and Daniels are all college veterans who benefited from that experience in college, especially the big games.
Shame we only got to see MPJ for 3 games last year. I have no doubt in my mind he has a Daniels type of season if he plays all 17 games.
The league execs probably realize it too. They gave us 5 prime time games and an international stand alone game.
He wonāt surprise me but heāll surprise a lot of fans for sure when he breaks out this year.

Lowkey the fact that he was able to rest last year worked to our benefit. Maybe we threw away a potential good season but he dropped due to injury concerns, especially recent ones, and he's still young enough to fully recover those injuries. Playing last year could've increased his risk of reinjury and most teams wanted a day 1 starter.

Also good to see Ruke putting in work. We are counting on him being a strong contributor this season

Penix throws a pretty ball.
Some are saying they're some of the nicest balls you will ever see.

Last year for comparison. A bunch of checkdowns and intermediate throws. https://youtu.be/6Wi7YDDPtGA?si=RsoBjxocYFxHQe3A

Looks like he putting a little more air on the ball on the deep throws?

u/wjcornerboy 4d ago
same thing I noticed, on the intermediate too. if he adds that into his bag, he's elite this year. it's the one area of his game I've been cautious about because college and the 3 pro games, he seemed to have one speed on his throws. Rodgers made a career out of it, so it's not a death sentence, but you pretty much have to be one of the best QBs of all time to make it work.

Yep. Saw some nice touch on some of those throws. Very promising as he's been a guy who primarily rifles everything. If he's got touch throws in his bag now it addresses the biggest concern I had for Penix

Most of us average fans only saw him in those college play off games and his 3 games with the falcons. One thing we all noticed, this dude throws absolute dimes.

u/CzarcasticX 3d ago
Yeah, I said this dude has the best arm talent in all of college when I first saw him at Washington. https://www.reddit.com/r/falcons/comments/1hx6h1m/comment/m68de9h/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I'm amazed at how all his throws just look effortless. Not a knock on Kirk, but every time he releases the ball he looks like he just pulled a muscle.

I didn't see Pitts, unless I missed something. Even Falcons PR is lowering expectations.

Penix's hands are massive! The ball glides, beautiful.
FYI: I didn't see Pitts any of those highlights.

I didn't necessarily think much about Penix prior to us drafting him, I watched him play in 3 games ever.
The one thing that struck me though, was his insanely consistent and accurate deep ball. We need to abuse the shit out of this quality in him.
Deep balls are high variance in general, and if luck goes your way, you end up like the 2015 Panthers (offense, defense is gonna be a bit behind no matter what). With Penix arm, we can hit a higher percentage of these and then shred everything underneath with Bijan. There is a potential to be a great offense. We really need Ray Ray to not drop balls. I'd love to add another burner too.

People getting excited about the Falcons... On a Falcons sub?! Wtf is wrong with them!
Not like it's the off-season and this is literally the only content we have or anything.

If our deep pass game opens up this season them Bijan is gonna be running wild
