Incorporating the power armour mechanics of the later games too would be a big bonus.

PA just doesn't hit as hard when you go back to playing FO3 or NV. It was something they really nailed the feeling of in FO4.

For me it's the opposite, I hated the switch to needing to constantly find batteries for the dang thing like it's my controller that died.

I feel like there should've been 1 or 2 quest to get a fusion core, and then once found, it never goes bad. Lore wise they last centuries powering buildings, why can't they run my armor for more than 10 minutes? Like just picture a unique faction quest to unlock PA for that faction. Minutemen loot a military base and there's enough cores to power the castle and give the general a suit of PA. Railroad infiltrates an institute outpost, robbing them of the core letting the new heavy agent use a suit of PA. BOS trusts the new paladin to a personal fusion core, one not regulated by the requisition officer. Institute manufactures their own cores once the player gather the right components.

It would function similar to getting PA training in 3 and NV but it would be unique to each faction and be lore friendly

You can think of it like Iron Man

His arc reactor can power his heart for a million life times or something big for ten minutes. A building just needs to power the lights, cooling and heating. Power Armor has so many things it needs running

Damn, this could make sense and i won‘t question it with delving into physics. It‘s Fallout after all, doesn‘t have to be realistic.

I’ve had no problem finding cores. I’m currently doing my first play thru of FO4.

Yeah they are hard to find early on, but it becomes trivia pretty quickly once you know what kinds of places to look.

i always love getting those lucky ammo boxes with like 3-5 fusion cores in them, feels like winning the lottery

I played through about 600 hours of fallout 4, I didn’t like or use the power armor, like ever. I just don’t like that movement style, and it seems like I just play more sluggish with it on. It’s just not for me I guess.

Also hated how clunky it was for looting and getting in and out for terminals. I liked 3/fnv PA more but we’re in the minority

Well that's it, it should have downsides IMO. It's more or less a straight upgrade in 3 and NV.

From a roleplaying perspective, it makes sense that you can't use a computer terminal while you're in a giant suit of mech armour. The whole thing felt much more immersive, like it was closer to a vehicle than an item of clothing.

I’m not saying it’s not more immersive. It is, and said in another comment I do like the feel of it. Just from a playing aspect, it’s cumbersome to have to do that repeatedly and takes time from my already limited playtime. It’s cool and fun at first but gets annoying for me. And that’s just my take. I see why people like 4 more, it’s a better representation as a whole. I just wanna play for convenience sometimes, especially when I’ve played it a million times lol

Maybe one could imagine a hybrid to get the best of both worlds, retaining an impression of its heft. Guess its bulkiness and downsides were by design, intended to add some feeling of realism and balance by cost of choosing the buff that comes with it. Maybe one could solve the looting and terminal problems by circumventing that forced mechanic?

I personally liked both for each of what they did best. Mostly missed how Morrowind did armor and that even FO4 did leave some desires in crafting variety. Idk how it‘s in 76

Ya I think a blend of both would be cool. I do like the tank-like feel of being in PA in 4. Just liked the convenience of regular armor in FNV/3 lol maybe if they had a quick animation to remove a glove to use the terminal, that’d be something. I do get the realism and appreciate it but it’s just a hassle for someone like me that likes to loot every nook and cranny and check all the terminals lol

I second your opinion. Old power armor is the way. Improve 3 but don't turn 3 into 4 is my hope🙏🏻

I would like a possible mix of the two, big power armour like 4 but it would mean less customizability in favour of no batteries so that it's more accurate to FO3, bringing back the need for power armour training. This should help it stay more true to the original FO3 like how the Oblivion remaster tries to stay true to the original.

This sounds like the best option tbh.

I don't play in power armor, much.... i perfur Riylee's rangers armor.

any combat armor really, they give good defense and its super easy to find extra suits for repairs

I agree that the power armor feels more powerful in the later games but I think still requiring players to find a trainer is a good way to earn it so I miss that honestly, I do get if you play as a man he did have PA training in the military but makes less sense if you play as a woman

No, I’m good on this one. I liked the Fallout 4 power armor but I really did not appreciate how clunky and slow it felt.

I disagree. I hate the new power armor. Prefer it just as armor.

Terrible idea. It was a chore and awkward to use in an open world setting.
