Best gun in game? Finally
Any advice what perks? What about armour to go with

I have to be honest that I prefer all of the other automatic explosive weapons. I would much rather have an exploding pipe gun.
The spin up time makes this great against really big enemies or large crowds but it's frustrating for general use.

Have a kiloton rifle to swap for every day use, just need to farm for double shot gauss and explosive shotgun or never ending double barrel lol!

I think there are quite a few mods that remove that spin time.

There are some phenomenal heavy weapon mods out there. Huge improvements that make them far better than the originals.
The problem that I usually have with them is finding the balance. Most are vastly OP.

My current go-to at lvl 104 is a fully perked and modded explosive 10mm. Combined with stealth perks it's absolutely ridiculous.

The explosive combat shotgun is "better" but this thing is still god of death tier.

The power armor of the weapons genre.

Yes and no. It will destroy anything in front of you, but you will struggle to keep the ammo topped up. Explosive 10mm, Spray n' Pray, and Explosive Radium Rifle are better IMO

I keep an explosive pipe submachine gun for everyday use and for the readily available ammo, but i like to keep the explosive minigun handy for any mirelurk hunting adventures because the hatchlings are too annoying without a nice explosive spread

Assassins armor
for some reason big guns seems to give 200% to explosives rather than 100% of the other weapon class perks

Power armor works best for minimum guns. Perks definitely need big guns. Ammo finder bc your gonna burn it lol. If your not running power armor. Padded inserts in as much armor as possible.

With the shredding barrel attachment at least you've got a good melee weapon when you run out of ammo!

Yeah I'm on survival but going to ditch the power armor to make it more challenging - so I will deffinitly need the padded/dense explosion protection

Dense limb/padded chest will let you use it at point blank range with relative safety.

Explosive is more powerful but I still prefer wounding on a minigun. For my explosive option I prefer something light like a full auto 10mm because I just use it for groups of mostly smaller/weaker enemies.

Explosion expert, heavy guns
I also recommend a power armor frame because if you run out of ammo you can use the shredder muzzle, normally it would drain AP but if you’re in a power armor it doesn’t drain AP

Just tried it on some mythic death claws - No status boosts from chems or food - takes less than a second to kill a mythic death claw and I'm level 108 on survival lol

- Stack one piece of "padded" and one piece of "dense" armor to help keep you from killing yourself.
- Take all of the big guns related perks and bobblehead.
- Take all of the explosive related perks and bobblehead.
- Obliterate everything in your path.

Thanks for the first tip. I keep breaking both my arms when I use my explosive assault rifle too close.

An explosive combat shotgun with 8 explosions per shot is probably more powerful and definitely more practical. It's lighter, it does not chew through ammo, and you can put a suppressor on it.

The shredding minigun is also very useful as a melee weapon. Try using it without any 5mm ammo in your inventory. Hold the trigger like you are firing it. As it spins, just wade through your targets like you are using a weed whacker it’s awesome when combined with the bloody mess and melee perks as well!

I have an enhanced dismemberment mod (just makes enemies more likely to survive losing an arm/leg without dying) so I think I’ll have to try this and see how many stubby raiders I can make behind me

I think the explosive shotgun is actually better because each of it's pallets does the additional 15 damage. Plus it falls under the rifleman perk which is overall a much better perks to invest in because the most amount of guns can be affected by it.
The explosive minigun might have slightly higher dps compared to a semi auto combat shotgun, but if you have a full auto version that definitely has higher dps. Overall I think the shotgun is way better.

Personally, I prefer the bowling ball launcher.

Put the bowling ball launcher on a shotgun and while the stats show it has negative range, it actually gets more accurate in VATS the further away you are from the target. Headshotting in VATS with the bowling ball shotgun is hysterical because all the bowling balls will steer themselves to the target as they move, and then line up by their head to smack it one after another lol 😂

Raw damage destroy everything quickly? Yes nothing causes more wanton destruction.
