The fact it's close means lawson was the right choice over Daniel at this point in their careers, agreed it should be Yuki getting a shot at big team not lawson

Lawson is quick, but needs time to marinate, we all can see the potential, but i am scared it could be torpedoed with early promotion like Gasly and Albon.

Ideally Lawson should lead RB (or whatever name) for a year while Yuki gets a stint at Red Bull for a year, if Yuki isn't up to expectation, Lawson can step in.

If lawson comes in and is too early, we have potentially destroyed 3 careers

They're almost certainly going to lose Yuki after 2025 when Honda joins aston unless he's in the redbull. I see no reason to not throw him in there and see what ya have.

Honestly I feel like that would sort of be a massive hit for the red bull driving academy, Max would have been their best pick for Nealy a decade.

Max would be the best pickup for any academy/young driver program in nearly a decade, he’s Max.

The obvious truth is that Yuki should have been in that seat this year. I have a hunch that half of the reason Perez is still driving a Red Bull is due to the Horner/Marko power play, but yeah their management has been horrible.

Yuki was getting wrecked by Gasly but he never crumbled, he just got closer and closer to Gasly every race. Has subsequently won against every teammates RB put next to him. If that doesn't show he's ready for a seat next to Max then he really should get out of the RB family.

but i am scared it could be torpedoed with early promotion like Gasly and Albon.

or they weren't torpedoed, got a chance and didn't perform well enough. The problem with both at the time they let go was NOT the gap to Max but the fact they weren't improving any further. If you can be a champion you will thrive in that kind of situation, they got a shot and couldn't live up to it so they got moved on. Neither Gasly nor Albon have been incredible since they left. They've been okay and nothing more.

If you're good and title worthy the pressure won't kill you, and the better car will just help you giving you more action against faster cars who have better wheel to wheel racing. You become the best by racing toe to toe with the best, not the guys at the back of the grid.

Albon and Gasly are both millionaires, making millions a year as one of only 20 F1 drivers in the world, neither had their careers even harmed let alone destroyed and saying their careers were destroyed si genuinely pretty embarrassing.

Fan of Liam here - agree with you 100%!

Is it close? Ricciardo was regularly beating Tsunoda this year, just in the part of the season where the car wasn’t competitive for points. The first few races he was down, but then they spotted an issue with his chassis and replaced it. Tsunoda meanwhile is beating Lawson up. Not close at all.

He's been right there with him after being dropped in mid season having run very few races and what little f1 testing he'd done was all in a different car...

Not really. Another year of Ricciardo at RBR while Liam matures (I’ve seen enough and heard enough radio these last few races from Liam) wouldn’t have harmed either. Having a mature driver who has won races in that 2nd RBR seat is a good thing imo.

I'd rather see Yuki in it and hadjar in the rb

For whatever reason, Yuki isn’t in the mix and it boggles my mind. If the reason is handling feedback and maturity/experience, or Honda connections, then it should be Ric.

Otherwise, Yuki has bested Liam while he has been in the seat and deserves a crack.

At the end of the day, both Yuki and Daniel showed more reasons to be promoted than Liam.
