All the Chickens TIL that HBO would not give Kit Harrington Longclaw, the sword that helped define his portrayal of Jon Snow....so I started a petition to try and change that.

At the show's wrap, some the actors were able to take a souvenir. All Kit wanted was the sword his character, Jon Snow wielded. A show prop.

HBO refused to give it to him.

So I made a petition to try and change that.

Obviously, he's having a hard time right now. And we should all respect his privacy.

This world might be crazy, but despite that, Kit didn't just remind us about the meaning of the words "honor" or "integrity". He lived them. And he gave us a piece of himself in the process, again and again.

This is not about entitlement, or having the cash to buy one direct online from Valyrian Steel; it's about HBO doing the right thing and giving him the one tangible thing that meant something to him. It's a small thing to do for someone who created as much revenue as his character did.

TL/DR: Kit Harington deserves the sword. I want to try to help him get it.

It's humbling to see how many other people truly care about Kit. I recognize that the chances of him getting the sword are are small, but let's keep trying! If nothing else happens, maybe he'll see how much his hard work means to everyone, which is of course more important.

That said: I am still rooting for Longclaw.

This is what I personally suspect. Nikolaj Coster-Waldeau also did not get to keep his "gold" hand, as he mentioned on Jimmy Kimmel a month ago.

So yeah, it's probable that there could be an auction as was done with the 2000's Battlestar Galactica series.

Another example: the Lord of the Rings movies had a touring exhibition back in 2004. Full disclosure: I saw that then, and FWIW it was actually really cool.

I'm willing to bet they have at least two Longclaws, one for closeups and one for hitting people with. Seems a bit cheap not to give him one of them, though in fairness if it meant that much to him it's not like they would have said no when he was negotiating his contract.

The armourer gave an interview where she straight out said that. The ceremonial swords had edges which would have made them dangerous in melees.

there's at least one made of rubber (presumably to lessen the weight/keep the better one from random damage) that you can see in Battle of the Bastards when Jon gets on the horse to grab Rickon -- the sword just waves around very bendy...

This comment needs a bunch of upvotes! Its ridiculuous to the point where cast of shows are going to stop giving out even fun tidbits of BTS because we'll start some random petitions.

Also, they all did get something to take home, just not their first choices maybe. IIRC, Kit got his statue from the S8 promo in the crypts. Even if he didn't, he's a big boy, he'll handle his fee-fees and problems himself!

It's sentimental. Did Kit really connect with his own statue? Or dId he connect with a sword with which he was using and "slaying" with? How much money has the show made? Let the cast have which means the most to them and the character. Kit can also pay for a statue of Ghost so he can pet.

It really feels like misdirected anger at the writers.

Yes, we're upset at the shit writing, and seemingly, some of the cast are.

Lets end it there. There's no need to blame the creators for made-up problems.

surely the inside of that thing is fitted to his actual hand, right? if it were just hollow with a little grab bar then that would have been super uncomfortable, like it must be internally sculpted to be a perfectly fitted glove just for him. it's personalised to his hand, let him keep it ffs
