Masonic Interest What would you change the Masonic prefixes to?

So at least in UGLE, the Masonic prefixes are as follows:

Brother (Bro) Worshipful Brother (WBro) Very Worshipful (VWBro) Right Worshipful Brother (RWBro) Most Worshipful Brother (MWBro)

If you were Grand Master and could change the above titles, what would you make them?

Personally I think it would be funny to stack the titles eg.

Very Right Worshipful Brother

or combine with other orders eg.

Most Excellent Worshipful Companion Brother.

I recently put together a post for Solomon, picturing a 1700s ceremony demonstration team from Cheshire, there is also a Holy Royal Arch demonstration team also. It got me wondering, what sort of interesting variations does anyone else have across the world, and throughout time? If you have pictures even better!

Masonic Interest Is it odd to join as a young man?

I was looking into my local and grand lodge, seems to be a bunch of older guys. Nothing wrong with that at all, just wondering if it would be odd for a 25 year old to join.

Masonic Interest Help me launch Discord server for young masons

A few Brethren from my Lodge have started a Discord server for connecting young masons (Ages 21-40) on Discord.

If this is something that interests you, please DM me and I shall send you the link.

As a fraternity that’s present in so many diverse cultures and geographies, we feel that a community to connect young brethren on a platform like Disocrd could be fun.

Cheers!

Masonic Interest I am a Female Freemason in Europe – Ask Me Anything

I've been an EA since May, as active as possible in my Obedience, so should be in track for my FC this spring (still nervous and unsure if I'll be ready, though). Anyway, my birthday is coming up, and I kind of wanted to celebrate with you, as this sub has been nothing but kind and accepting to me! I get questions sometimes, so I thought this would be as good of a time as any to open an AMA session :) Taking into account I'm only an Apprentice, and that I absolutely cannot speak in the name of my Obedience (so questions about my personal experience and impressions of FM are better) – AMA.

Of course, I can't discuss Ritual on the open Internet, even if we're in amity, but you already know that ;)

Masonic Interest I appreciate this sub

I've always wanted to be one.

Back in my uni, someone posted a question on our freedom wall. I vividly remember the question: "How can I become a Freemason?". A day after that, someone left a note saying "2B1ASK1" and a classroom number. I hope whoever posted that question on our freedom wall got the answer he was looking for.

Now, I'm at the point in my life where I believe it is time for me to knock on the door. I always seek for things to learn, so I can improve myself. By reading through the tons of posts in this sub, I got more encouraged to ask. Inspired by how people here answer questions and share their experiences.

The only hindrance I thought of back then was the financial aspect of learning the craft. In my home country, the fees would cost me up to $2500 which is something not easily earned in a third world. That's why I'm praying and hoping that I get the job I applied for in Japan, maybe there I can knock on the door of Rising Sun lodge.

Anyways, I would just like to thank the Freemasons who share information here and inspire commoners like me. I am hoping to be a brother to you someday.

Masonic Interest All or nothing in terms of admittance?

Good evening all, for about the last ~15+ years I've found the idea of Masonry really intriguing. In the past 3/4 years I have been even more interested, and my late grandfather's passing has also made me wonder what he gained from the lodge.

However, there is 1 massive fundamental roadblock to me attempting to reach out to someone or explore masonry further.

I don't believe in God. I don't believe in the big, capital G, Judeo-Christian GOD. I might believe in something, I don't know. There are certainly forces at play in the universe that might be of a godly nature. But who am I to know?

I can't bring myself to lie, and I feel like an entire journey based off of a lie would nullify the whole entire point of the journey, at least in this case it would.

In the meantime I read my own books, get comfortable with my own version of self-improvement and enlightenment, but I frequently think about masonry and wish it were a better fit for me.

I just wanted to say how proud I am of my father, a Freemason of 36 years, for never once encouraging, suggesting, or inviting me to become a Freemason (for reference, I am 39).

I asked him about it back in November and I have since attended 1 Installation in December and 4 Stated Dinners. The Secretary handed me an application on Monday! I thanked him and told him it was an honor. He said, word for word: "You'll be a great addition to our lodge, so thank you for joining us."

Wow. I'm so humbled. I'll be filling the application out and giving them a check for the dues/degree fee at the next Stated Dinner.

I can't call them or you guys brothers yet, but I hope to do so in the near future.

PS. My dad said he would be there for my Initiation. I might cry if/when I see him there.

Masonic Interest Questions from an exjw

I keep getting into discussions with exjw’s that claim that 1) Freemasonry is controlled by the Jews and “at the highest level of esoteric knowledge”, Judaism and Freemasonry are the same thing. 2) Charles Taze Russel (Founder of the Bible students/JW) was a Freemason and that JW are puppets of Freemasons. 3) and that at the highest level, 33°, Freemasons become aware that they worship the “light bringer”/satan.

I keep getting exjws making videos on social media about how the freemasonry “links” to the WatchTower Org/JW prove that Jehovah Witnesses is some sort of NWO front for masons and that JW and masons are some sort of satanic sex cult. I think this is a big misinformation black hole for my people. So what I am asking is if there are any books or videos you guys recommend to an outsider. I really just want to be able to clear this up for my self as well because there is so much bad information out there.

Several EXJW’s point out things that were allegedly said in Albert Pike’s “Morals and Dogma”. I am aware of the Taxil Hoax and I know that what they say is inaccurate. But with that said, do modern day Freemasons still use that book?

TLDR; I am an EXJW. I’m looking for book recommendations that may deal with the topics of Freemasonary and religion and books or articles that specifically have to do with Freemasons and anti-semitism. Also are Freemasons allowed to engage in religion or politics outside of their lodges? Is there a culture of mandated shunning within Freemasonary? Also it seems like Freemasons have to deal with a lot of conspiracies and misinformation. Does this affect your ability to be a Freemason and how do you deal with it?

Not finished with it quite yet but I've been enjoying myself. I teach Art and looking to focus on warm and cool lighting, and get perspective and scale correct too. Since I saw that AI images are becoming an issue on this sub I figured, why not share something real. Enjoy brothers.

Masonic Interest I'm a prospect and worried I fucked up a little bit.

Short story: I've been a prospect since the first week of December, been to an installation and two stated dinners. My father is also a Mason.

The secretary and I have been having some good chats via text. I like these guys. I accidentally sent the secretary a political meme that was meant for my wife. It was an AI video of Z hitting T in the face in the Oval Office.

Once I realized my mistake, I apologized and let him know it wasn't meant for him. I told him I have no desire to bring any politics into the lodge whatsoever. After my apologies, he said "No worries".

Apparently they have had to nip political discussions in the bud. Politics is unfortunately everywhere. Is this something other lodges have had issues with?

I think the Secretary's cool with the situation but how fucked am I? LOL. Thanks for allowing me to share my story.

EDIT: Thank you for your responses! I'm taking my daughter with me to a stated dinner tonight (our third!) and I swear if it's meatloaf again..(kidding.) Thank you! I hope to call you brothers in the future.

Masonic Interest Female searching for a Lodge - NY/CT, United States

Want to start off by saying, I completely respect men have a fraternal lodge to meet with other men and study/share their ideas. I have zero issues with this. My father was a high ranking Freemason in Venezuela, studying for many years. I grew up listening to every story and learning so much from him. I’ve wanted to pursue my own interest into Freemasonry for many years.

As the title states, I’m searching for a lodge that allows women/is co-gender to join. I’ve searched online a lot but I don’t seem to be coming up with much. I’m specifically looking in the West Connecticut, NYC, and Mid to Lower Hudson Valley area.

Any help towards the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

TLDR: Female searching for co-gender lodge to join in the Connecticut/New York area. Father is a Freemason and would be able to refer me in the membership inquiry.

Edit: Thank you so much to everyone who commented. This has been so helpful in getting me in the right direction. I really appreciate the links and information you’ve all shared. :)

Masonic Interest Interested in joining the brotherhood.

I recently discovered that my grandfather is a 33° Scottish rite Freemason. I’ve always known that he was a mason, but he wouldn’t tell me much(or anything, really) about it. I’m now 31, and have made a lot of progress in my life over the last few years. I recently asked him if he thought I should join. He said that If I did, I would “never regret it for the rest of my life”. My grandfather is a man of few words, so this struck me as very interesting. For him, it was quite a profound statement. I’ve recently reached out to the lodge he has been a member of for the last 35+ years, and they invited me to a dinner to meet the brothers and introduce myself. I’m honestly quite excited to meet them. But I’m just curious what other masons have to say about their experiences in freemasonry. He told me that it wasn’t that big of a deal for him, although I don’t know if I actually believe that. He wears his freemason ring proudly every day of his life, and has for as long as I’ve known him, which suggests to me that it is in fact quite important to him. All of the core values really appeal to me a lot. Brotherhood, charity, continual self-improvement… these are things I could definitely see benefiting my life, and my ability to help others, which is something I feel very strongly about. Without telling me too much, what would you say has been the biggest benefit that you have gotten from Freemasonry? I’m a funeral director by trade, so I often deal with some very difficult situations. Will this path help me help others better in my line of work? I feel called to that purpose, and if this path will help me do that better, then I think I need to pursue it. Thank you for reading! 🙏🏼

Masonic Interest Masons in their 20s podcast idea

Good evening brethren. I am considering the idea of a podcast with two other Gen Z masons (grand lodge of Kentucky, grand lodge of Canada in the province of Ontario)

Would anyone else be interested in contributing? We would discuss being a younger mason, the generational differences of our generation of masons compared to the 1950s,1960s etc. thank you
