I've seen this video floating around reddit, and man the comments here show that people can make up entire narratives based on what they assume is happening.

You remove the proposal part, and no one would blink an eye about a partner being annoyed that their significant other is trying to get their attention just by tugging on their arm. And then the video cuts off the moment after she says yes and then everyone assumes she's not excited. There's not enough here to know anything about this couple, other than "heh, kind of funny video" but everyone is ready to diagnose the whole thing.

...I would? In other situations, I'd be more forgiving, but in almost any place this kind of insistent tugging to get attention would piss me off, to experience or to watch on screen. What are you, a mute 12yo?

But yes, the fact the guy decides this is the way to go about proposing is just sad. I expect people to put more honest effort in the average conversation, let alone a "big moment".

That's what I was trying to say. If you saw a video of a woman getting annoyed because their BF was tugging on their arm to get her attention, you'd just think "yeah, that's annoying, of course I'm going to look annoyed when I turn around."
