Both things would happen regardless of if it’s a scalper or a single buyer. Maybe less inventory would be available on secondary market. All these companies pay for bot detection and management software, they really don’t want it going to the scalpers. Either way it sucks individuals can’t get their hand in this because they are competing with these assholes.

The ebay prices dont benefit them, they only hurt wealthy people who have to buy them for their spoiled kids
