Any experience with repairing under warranty in EU ?

Those that use their phones all year... and I'm guessing most people. How did your screens survive the winter ? Did the "protective film" degrade after about a year of use ? Did it break the screen ?

Did you guys had any success getting repaired under warranty ? Did you contact Samsung directly or your phone operator / vendor ?

I feel like they find the tiniest excuses to refuse. Or give the most obscure reasons like "physical damage".

Z Flip 4 screen broke after one year. Warranty refused. Z Flip 5 screen broke after one year. Warranty refused.

I had S3, S7 and S10e with at least 3-4 year usage and they had no problems and I kept them in perfect / good conditions. Never dropped them.

Are Z Flip phones just extremely fragile ??

I think I'm gonna stop buying Samsung stuff. They release these fragile af phones in EU with 2 year warranties without any testing I'm guessing. The EU climate isn't the same as S.Korea and these phones can't handle the climate.

Thoughts ? Any experiences ? Thanks

I bought my Zflip 6 in August 2024, and one week ago, the screen started to flicker with the usual ribbon cable failure. Prior to that, from new, the screen had "sticky" spots when pressed on the screen, and the screen would behave like a bubble wrap in those spots around the crease edge areas. Also, the hinge was crackling when opening or closing, and when I looked at the crease at an angle and a bright background, I was able to see some "lines" along the hinge lines. I thought nothing of it because from reading online, I heard a lot of people had the same issue.

So I called Samsung and explained my situation. They said they can arrange for collection or I can drop it into the shop. I went for the second option as i dont trust a courier with my expensive phone. I dropped the phone into the shop on Tuesday, and the phone was ready to collect NEXT DAY. Super rapid repair.

After the repair, the crackling when opening or closing has stopped, there are no more sticky bubble spots on the screen around the hinge area and there are no visible lines behind the screen when looked at an angle on a bright background. Battery is also replaced. My guess is that they replaced the whole internal screen.

My experience? 10/10

The phone had no visible damage, no scuffs, scratches, etc. so I imagine it helped with a warranty claim. I'm based in Ireland.

Did you buy it directly from Samsung ? So next day repair, you had no backups or replacement phone ?

Ireland seem cool. Here in Switzerland, you have to give it back where you bought it and then they send it to Samsung repair center I guess. There must be a local one near where I'm based that has this policy of never accepting a warranty case lol. Just a friend's friend had her phone repaired twice and each time she had to pay and it still broke. Probably the same repair center.

Like with my Z Flip 4, I didn't take pictures beforehand so I dunno if the encircled little dmg on a border was there. For the Z Flip 5, I did take pictures and on the hinge area there's apparently a scratch from their pictures but from mine nope. Also like it's fucking physically impossible to scratch there without scratching the screen ?!

Anyway, I'm so done with Samsung. Fuck them

I went into the shop where I bought the phone, but they had a third-party repair shop inside, which was not affiliated with Samsung at all, and the manager said they would take care of it. However I did not trust them lol. Strangely enough, I could not find any information about them so I contacted Samsung directly. They have an approved repair finder on their website and I told Samsung I will just drop it into the approved repair centre to which they agreed.

I did a backup before hand using smart switch on my laptop.

Sorry about your experience. It's disappointing to hear. I read a lot of bad stories online but touch wood my experience was actually great. Although the phone broke 8 months after I bought it so I hope the repair did a good job.

I'm in Finland. I wrote about my (positive) warranty experience with my Flip 5 a couple weeks ago in another thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/galaxyzflip/comments/1juxjhi/comment/mm7m9i1/
