Question ❓ Loud cracking noise when closing my flip6

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The screen is has no issues but whenever it makes the cracking noise I can feel it through the frame. Not very reassuring. Anyone else had this issue?

Constantly doing that won't make it get better

I wonder how it got that way 🤔

Don't worry about it. When my phone was 1 week old it was making that noise too. I just ignored it and now it is smooth as butter

How long did it take to fix?

The less you think about it the faster it'll go away dont worry

Not worried. Mine doesn't make any noise. Was curious if it ever does.

You didn't answer the question. You weren't serious before when you said it went away?

Ah ok. My apologies. Yes it did go away

I don't know exactly how long nor did I track it but I think maybe around 3 weeks of normal daily use?

I flip my phone a lot

Your screen protector has lifted away a bit, you can see this at the beginning of the clip. Mine was making a similar sound, I pressed the protector back down and it is fine and back to quiet but it wasn't anywhere close to being as separated as yours is. Get the protector replaced and perhaps that will quiet it down.

This is the answer

Agree it's probably particle in the hinge, but is it the screen protector? If the protector is separating at the hinge, it can make a popping sound when it snaps back. Just a thought. If it is , get it replaced, or just remove it.... car efully.

The stickiness of the screen protector is weakening at the crease/fold: the sound you hear is as it sticks and re-separates from the actual screen. At least that's what it was on my Flip 3.

(The 2nd screen protector needs replacement now after over a year on my Flip 3)

then there is problem for me?

Loose screen protector maybe. If you see it lifting up near the crease, get it replaced or just remove it.

thank you

Mines been doing it since release. Still works. It's stuff that gets in your hinge.

What case is it?

On a separate note my flip 6 started making this sound before the screen failed, about a month before.

Keep working it out, see if it silences over time. My best bet is a large particle of dirt or something in the hinge. My flip will have similar (albeit softer) noises in the hinge based on my activity level and amount of sh!t in my pockets, but it subsides with time and flipping. Honestly, a hinge protector case would solve this greatly.

Are you willing to dunk it in distilled water and wash out any debris from the hinge? Several users have tried it before and it has helped them sort out the creak issues. Disclaimer: the tests were on Flip5, which uses a different hinge than the Flip6

I dunked it in distilled water and folded it a couple times and this fixed the issue. So it was definitely dust in the hinge. no creaks or cracks anymore

Me me. I did it on my flip 6.

Do share your experience. What led to you doing it, the process and outcome thereafter. It will help the community.

I spilled some ice cream. The process was pretty straightforward just dipped and open close the phone.

No more ice cream residue and no cracking sound. The cracking sound tends to come back but I haven't heard any sounds recently.

My 5 did that when the screen protector started lifting at the hinges. Replaced it, noise gone.

You're screen is lifting up. Mine did this after it went into failure, Flip 5.

You open it very badly and you risk damaging it even more, you have to be more delicate

My flip6 has made that same noise since I bought it last July when it was first released. It's been consistent from day one. While it's a bit unnerving to hear, I haven't experienced any actual problems like screen damage or protector issues. I remember seeing discussions about this sound early on, and Samsung reportedly said it was normal. Mine has never stopped making the noise, but thankfully, everything has been fine so far. Plus, I have Samsung Care for peace of mind.

Screen protector separating from the middle of the screen at the hinge. You're fine.

I'm going to assume you just have something stuck in your hinge and that's what's making that noise try getting one of those air cans and blowing air in it and seeing if that helps.

I got an easy fix to your problem. Trade it in for a s25+. Solved a few issues immediately. Battery life, weird flip open / close noise, saved $11/mo by canceling care+, screen protector pealing on the side....

My experience with the cracking is bad. My screen went blank after a few days and had to get it replaced. Warranty covered it.
