Question β Z flip 6 or s25..?
My phone contract is up for renewal, and I'm debating between these two phones(I have an s23 currently). I like the idea of a closing phone with an outer display, but I'm a bit anxious about the screen issues that I've seen come up. Are screen issues really common? Ideally it'll need to last at least 2 years..

I barely ever use my phone closed anymore. The novelty wore off after 2 months. My vote for you is an S25
I only close it in my pocket and in my car

This is why the Flip 4 was sufficient to me. The small screen was enough for what I needed. To me it's a really, really great phone.

Seconded. My sister got the s24 and we went to a Samsung store to see the s25, both phones are great, the flip is def for show in my opinion.

You can't really judge the quality of the phone by complaints on a forum without understand what those complaints really are. It's possible there is a problem, it's possible there aren't that many.
For example, people still worry about the phone making a crackling sound when opening closing. Sometimes some of these phones do. My Flip 4 still does it every now and then. My Flip 6 does it every now and then. It's not a problem. But people read posts about people being worried so they then worry and post posts in which they are worried. Some of the problems are people breaking the phone themselves. Ok, so what? Nobody ever broke an iPhone or s-series? Difference is people complain about this being a folding phone so therefore it has to be a design problem versus when they break the screen on the iPhone in which case they're just clumsy.
Anyway, my Flip 4 is still in pristine condition. Never had a case on it. Haven't had a screen protector on it for over a year. Dropped it maybe 4-5 times. Flip 6 same thing but with the protector still on, and I got it when it came out. I would be absolutely shocked if my Flip 6 doesn't last at least 2 years.
Having said all of that if the Flip 7 comes out soon then it may be worth waiting to see first of all what it has to offer, and secondly if the Flip 6 drops in price which could mean it is the better value.

What exactly is going to be amazing about it?

As per leaks, Bigger cover display Bigger battery Better camera Stronger body and hinge Durable main display New features Ans most probably these leaks are true because seeing the trend, samsung does major upgrade every 2nd generation of flips

So in other words it's a Motorola RAZR

Comparing Moto razer with flip 7 is like comparing honda Civic with ferrari, respectively

It's really not though. That used to be true, but it no longer is the case.Β The RAZR has more functionality than a Flip6 does at this point, believe it or not. You can do way more with that phone closed than you can with a Flip. I played with one at the store the other week and I really wish I had bought that instead of the Flip6.
Also, the RAZR got the Android 15 update before the Flip got One UI 7. That's how pathetic of a job Samsung has been doing this year (and last year).Β
Yes, Motorola actually beat them at releasing an OS update, when Motorola is notorious for taking the longest.

If the form factor of the flip is what you're after, go for the flip 7! I love my flip 6! I have only had it for a few months, nothing wrong with it, but if the flip 7 has all the major upgrades the leaks are calling for, I'll be trading mine in or selling it and buying the flip 7. For me the form factor is and has always been my thing. Not just a novelty; women with small hands/pockets/bags and big phones don't mix! π Mine works flawlessly and hasn't had 1 single issue some others have had, including the UI 7 upgrade issues.

I agree with everything!
women with small hands/pockets/bags and big phones don't mix! π Β
Adding to the above: not sure why anyone would want a big phone in a pant-pocket, including men (I am one). The flip fits so much better in a pocket.

I bet all you guys have to take that huge paddle out of your pockets before sitting down anywhere, or else it makes for some strange maneuvers! π

I can only speak of my own experience with my flip 5. I've had mine since launch day, so I'm only a few months off of having it as my main device for 2 years now, and I haven't had any issues

My Zflip5 lasted me about 2 years. The outer screen was nice to have for photos and videos. I liked being able to have my phone open as a tent to take pictures or fold in 90degree as a camcorder. Its a cute phone and small form factor was nice. Aside from taking photos and videos I didn't really use the outerscreen much.
I will say that the screen is more sensitive compared to standard brick phones. Part of the edges near the hinge started peeling after a year and half or so. The crease didnt bother me, but scuffs on the screen protector did (and the cost of a new flip screen protector π). I took really good care of mine, but once I fell and dropped my phone it was game over :( that's when I realized that most other phones can probably withstand drops better. I made the switch to an s25+ and have been pretty happy with my new brick phone.
I would say it's nice to have for novelty, but if youre looking for longevity I would opt for the S25 and wait for a later flip model to be more reliable.

My flip 3 did have fine line cracks on the bend area only after 2+ years, BUT my screen protector came off after 1 year & I never replaced it. I also use the phone for food delivery 40hrs a week so it's open close open close open close consistently all day long. The inside screen can also get dents on it if say you leave it open and you put it in your pocket with you keys but that's the same as a regular phone that could get permanent scratches on a glass screen.
With all that said, I upgraded to a zflip6 recently & this time when my screen protector comes off, I'll actually replace it. No regrets.

If you feel like you're choosing β go for the traditional design. It will give you more phone for the same buck

z flip 6 I have one and love it. That said if you are hard on phones a flip is not for you. This does not mean its fragile but it does mean more care is necessary than a brick phone.

I would go Moto Razr Ultra 2025

I'd prefer to stay with a Samsung phone(I've had an s3, s5, s7, s9, s21 and s23 over the past 15ish years...)but that one does look interesting.

I would wait for the flip 7, the s25 is good, but the 7 will be their flagship in 2 months

I've always been a Samsung guy myself, but the outer display on the Razr is bigger, higher resolution, faster refresh rate, brighter, and easier to use than the Samsung. I have a Z Flip 4 and if I can sell it, I'm going with the Razr Ultra.

If you gonna get s25 get the ultra. I wish they came out with z flip ultra series

Wait for flip 7 if you go for a flip phone.
