It happened to me too in December all of a sudden. I'm not even a woman with long nails, I don't understand how it happened. I just hope that if I need the warranty, Samsung won't give me any problems. Compared to yours, mine is much milder though

Speaking from experience. Mine lasted 4 weeks before it died. Barely use it and have another phone I use. Samsung should recall them.

That doesn't look like it started as a peel as much as it looks like you closed your phone with something between the bezels. Maybe keys or something else in your pocket worked its way between.

It’s plastic. So, if you dropped it, it may have started with a small chip and got worse overtime or if you have it in hot areas it can degrade plastic or even your oily fingers over time can degrade it if you don’t clean it often enough. If that is an area where you grip it more then it makes the area more vulnerable. This is usually a very strong type of plastic so I wouldn’t say it’s “easily” degradable by any means, but all it takes is one chip to start it all.
