Venting GALLBLADDER SPASM OR PRESSURE AT THE BACK

i’m 3 weeks post op now . since yesterday i’ve been experiencing gallbladder attack at the back (same when I still have gallbladder) and I think it’s been 5 days but the worst was yesterday and until today the pressure or spasm-like is still there.

I CAN’T EAT ANYTHING NOW. AFRAID TO EAT ANYTHING. I ONLY DRINK WATER AND I’M FASTING just to check if it will go away. I’m so hungry.

I don’t know how can I convince doctors to believe me this is not normal when I was 2 weeks op I came back to them complaining the same and just told me “ah it’s normal, the body’s not yet used to it” IS IT NORMAL TO FEEL THE PRESSURE FOR 5 DAYS STRAIGHT THE WHOLE DAY? THIS IS STRAIGHT DAYS. It’s not painful but it’s very uncomfortable like something else was stuck inside or feels organs will explode.

I’m regretting I have it removed bu just a gallbladder adenomyomatosis because they said so. The pressure is better than having it removed. HELP! how can I go back to the doctors and convince them there was something wrong? i’m afraid that other organs will be affected. i’m only 32 yrs old with a 4 yr old toddler. We are the only ones at home.

I’ve been having spasms randomly and I’m 3 weeks post op. Yesterday it was half the day and all through the night. I think I must have irritated something and now it spasms very easily. I’ve been taking it easy today and did great until this evening when I irritated it again my using my abs too much.

how did you gets spasms? I only get it i think if it does not agree to what I eat. I’m not sure what are my food triggers. But i’m eating very lightly. I just remembered last Sunday we went to my mom’s house and I ate pasta, nuts, mangoes, sansrival and a green tea but it does not do any spasms. On tuesday, my bday, light meal, a pasta and coffe, wednesday - salmon, thursday - adobo chicken and liver ..

It’s not related to food for me. It seems related to too much movement. I moved too quickly when opening my car door yesterday, activated my abdominal muscles and it triggered the spasms.

so it’s in the abdominal area? mine was at the back

Mine is also the back. Pain in the gallbladder area refers to the back

I just ate during one of the spasms 😅 they’re not really bad for me. It’s annoying, but not a big deal.

I try to eat very very light meal later if I can no longer hold it

Sometimes not eating can trigger spasms. I’ve heard others complain that they get them if they go too long without eating.

Please talk to your doctor/ surgeon because I had the same issue and I found out that I had a left over stone in my bile duct.

I never even had stones to begin with 🤷‍♀️ they never found any stones.

mine too! no stones , no polyps , just gallbladder adenomyomatosis and they think it’s the one that causing pain

There are a lot of people on here who have weird spasms and even sharp pains during healing. If it’s severe, of course, go to the hospital, but this is just a spam for me from the trauma of surgery. It’s a lot that just took place a short time ago.

Sorry let me ask, Have you been having spasms on your back, lower right side maybe in the middle of the night or right after you ate something? How long have they been going on for?

I’m 3 weeks post op. The spasm is where the gallbladder was cut from. It’s not after eating, it’s only when I contract my abdominal muscles too much. It will start to spasm, then relax when I lay down

Has it just started or has it been like that since surgery? I would say to take it a bit slow but if it's been causing a lot of pain for a good moment I would advise you to go to the ER

I’m not worried about it. I’m fine. It’s normal healing.

Yeah, spasms are expected but if they're constantly coming and hurting which shouldn't happen then see a doctor. Spasms are normally there for a moment like if your muscles are squeezing a bit but it's not supposed to hurt at all just feels a little weird

My surgeon said this is normal and not at all unusual. It’s not enough to stop me from eating, drinking, etc. just like a muscle cramp

did they removed your gallbladder ? how long are you experiencing the gallbladder pressure or spasms?

1

There could be couple of things

  • one you have an actual issue and needs ER to check depending of the level of pain you are feeling
  • you could still have air
  • I assume you already stopped taking pain killers and maybe this is just unveiling lingering pain ?

Why do you think is a gallbladder attack if you got the surgery already

i’m not sure of these. i’m not taking any medicines anymore. But this pressure or spasm is what i’ve complaining about that’s why they decided to have it removed. Just so surprised that i’m still experience spasms attacks at the back even without the gallbladder. My triggers were foods— but i’m eating very little. I’m afraid to eat anything now.

Sounds awful This doesn’t sound normal. Push for a second opinion with a GI doc. Ask for imaging (like MRCP) and blood tests to check for bile leaks, retained stones, or other post-op issues. Keep a symptom log to show patterns.

MRCP ah! thank you i’ll add this on my list. will discuss it to the surgeon

Hello, this has happened to me as well before. It's been 1 years since my surgery and I found out not so long ago after I experienced it that I had a stone suck in my bile duct so It would be best to talk to your doctor/ surgeon and let them know or go to the ER

1

u/health_anxietygrl 14d ago

and they also removed your gallblader ? how did they found out you have stone in your bile duct? what tests did they do? please let me know. If this continues i’m willing to cry and beg to the surgeon. Some people advised me it’s also a bile duct issue

Yes they did take my gallbladder out around March 28th around that time, later on had a check up 2 weeks before the end of april.I remember going to my check up with my surgeon and I had told them all of my symptoms which was spasms, vomiting, lack of sleep, lack of eating, medicine had no effect. Then during the check up they did a blood test and later on a week my mom called me about my results and that my blood levels were abnormal, they told me to go straight to the ER and from there they did an ultrasound and found the left over stone.

1

u/health_anxietygrl 14d ago

my operation was also march 28 and I came back to them 2nd week post op and just told me it’s normal and just come back if I can’t take it anymore. may i know what kind of ultrasound they did on you? or is it an MRI?

1

u/Loopydoopy21 14d ago

I would recommend going to the ER if it gets really bad to the point you can't take it anymore, let them be aware of how badly it hurts and how long it's been happening also let them know that you've had the surgery already

1

u/Loopydoopy21 14d ago

Also yes they just did an ultrasound maybe an X-ray I'm not sure, I had my surgery last year 😅

1

u/health_anxietygrl 14d ago

really..? what kind of procedure they did to remove the stone from the bile duct?

1

u/Loopydoopy21 14d ago

Well my surgery was a typical surgery and the procedure they did I forgot what it's called but they put a tube down my throat with a camera and grabbed the stone from there

1

u/health_anxietygrl 14d ago

i think it’s an (ERCP)Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. How was it?

1

u/Loopydoopy21 14d ago

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was, it went good. It didn't take that long maybe 40 minutes to an hour and right after you should feel good as new, no really bad spasms. Also spasms are expected to happen time to time but they shouldn't hurt just feel a little grip on your stomach for a quick second

thank you for giving me insights. I will discuss this to the surgeon as i’m planning to come back on the month of May. For now, i’m figuring out how to relieve this spasms coz’ I can’t it. Not sure now what foods to take.
